Proposing:

Eriol had something he wanted to tell Tomoyo.

"Hello Eriol" Tomoyo greeted him cheerfully "thanks for picking me up."

She got into his car. He had been waiting to take her to the fireworks show that night.

"It's nothing. Are we going to be meeting Sakura and Syaoran there?"

"Yes, Sakura promised to show me the engagement ring Syaoran gave her" Tomoyo was smiling broadly.

"Lucky Syaoran" Eriol muttered darkly under his breath,

Syaoran and Sakura had become engaged earlier that week on their trip to China. They had just returned that morning.

"Did you say something?" Tomoyo asked.

"No, nothing" Eriol said brightly.

He felt the small box in his pocket lurch as he made a sharp turn.

"Here we are" he said with a bit of relief as they drove into the park's parkinglot.

They settled down at the edge of the trees, away from the crowd.

Tomoyo helped Eriol spread out the blanket and unpack the food that they had brought.

"Oh" she said with surprise.

"What's wrong?" Eriol asked worridly.

"I cut my hand, that's all" she said, showing him.

"I have a hankerchief, I'll just..." his voice trailed off.

Tomoyo stared at the small box that he offered her along with the hankerchief. She opened it and stared at the glowing ring inside.

"Thank you Eriol" she said, slipping it onto her finger.

Eriol wondered what she meant.

The first of the fireworks began.

"Tomoyo" he began "will you marry me?"

"Eriol, look at the fireworks" she said, appearing not to have heard, she pointed at the sky. She then turned and stared at him, smiling "of course I will Eriol."
