Cordelia sat sobbing in Angel's office curled up in her boss's chair.

She hadn't stopped since Angel and Doyle had brought her back from the haunted apartment.

The old ghost had almost won; Angel and Doyle had gone to cleanse the place leaving her at the office so she didn't get hurt. She could still feel the cable around her neck that the ghost had tried to hang her with.

There was still an imprint on her neck, a solid red line around her neck, she could still feel it there getting tighter and tighter and a shudder ran through her as she thought about it.

She was grateful that Angel and Doyle had gone to sort it out for her even though she knew Doyle was blaming herself for her getting hurt, which wasn't true in the least.

She had put herself in that position by falling for the wicked ghost of the south's trick was kind of stupid if she really thought about it.

She heard someone come into the building and stifled her sobbing by biting her lip.

Soon Doyle appeared in the doorway looking worn out but victorious.

"Hey princess how you feeling?" asked Doyle with a smile.

Cordelia smiled back weakly as he approached her.

"Angel and me cleansed the apartment for ya 'Delia but I think it best ya stay here tonight in case the ole ghost decides to come back." said Doyle sitting on the chair arm.

Cordelia leaned her head against his chest and felt him stroke her hair.

"I was so scared Doyle, I thought I was going to die." whispered Cordelia, sniffing back the remaining tears in her that threatened to overflow.

"Its Ok princess." assured Doyle wiping the remaining tears from her cheeks.

Cordelia felt his hand slip under her chin and let him tilt her chin up so she looked up at him, her eyes immediately drawn to his irresistible blue eyes.

"I will never let anything bad happen to you again princess, I promise." whispered Doyle, his thumb stroking her bottom lip.

Cordelia smiled weakly as the last few remaining tears ran down her cheeks.

Doyle pulled her into a hug and looked to the doorway to see Angel watching them.

The vampire and half demon exchanged a silent glance, promising to protect Cordelia no matter what happened.

Fin!
