Aim
Creeno
Oh, Eagle Eye. You were awesome. I regret nothing.
A bullet is nothing but an aimed explosion.
Jerry has always been second best. He is fine with that, if only because his brother(perfect), only his brother, never held it against him. As much as he'd wanted to hate Ethan, he couldn't.
You can't hate someone who not only has your face, in a way, and would give his heart to you if you but asked.
Jerry never asks, just shuts the door on Ethan, and leaves him to his achievements.
He doesn't need a brother with lead shoes, even if might want one.
Jump, Jerry.
He doesn't know if it's the fear of death or of the threat of a terrorist charge or if it's the image of his brother's dead corpse compelling him on, and maybe it's just his fucking will to live, but he takes that jump.
Jerry takes that jump, and it may have saved him for a moment, but it guarantees nothing.
You will kill Jerry.
Rachel's blood runs cold and she almost drops the phone. She's already worn thin, following this…thing's orders and here it is, telling her to kill the only person she's been with through this whole thing.
"I can't---"
You will. It cuts her voice off smoothly, effortlessly. When the time comes, you will do it, or your son dies.
And what choice does she have? She did not keep Jerry when every gut instinct told her not to, did not hold his hand and smile and think that even if that bastard wouldn't pay child support, she'd keep him.
Jerry is not a part of her, but when she raises the gun, it feels as if he is.
"Shoot me," he presses the gun against his cheek.
Of course, in the end, it's still all about Ethan. He has no proof of Ethan's trust or love but for his country.
"Shoot me," Jerry takes Rachel's hand, presses it against his cheek. Her hand's shake and ARIA's voice echoes, and he presses it to his face. He's sick of this, sick of running after Ethan.
"Shoot me!"
Rachel closes her eyes and does what the boy and machine tell her.
(i'm sorry.)
You're relieved of your duty, soldier.
