Re-write of "Because I Couldn't Stop for Death" by Emily Dickinson

I never could stop to die,
So it did it for me;
Slowly one by one they left,
All gone.
It was a slow walk down,
No one could stop it;
The work and laughter gone,
Silent once more.
Passing the streets where we stood,
So proud and so strong;
The abandoned warehouses holding creatures,
It seemed so wrong.
The lockers were cold as ice,
Taking my breath away too;
The depth and height n'ver ending,
Deep beneath the dirt.
One by one all them gone,
But the one I mourn;
She was immortal as I for'ver,
As I lived.
