Summary:

Rhea, in an effort to appease Kronos, had another secret child with him. The boy is weaker than most gods, but his inherent potential, his growth ability, surpasses that of even primordials. Zeus sees him as a threat to his future post as the ruler of the world and so casts him out in an attempt to get rid of him… but now, Perseus, several millennia later, shall have his revenge. Powerful!Percy, Evil!Chaos

Zeus, with growing worry, watched his emaciated mother, Rhea, smile warmly down at her newborn son. The boy, however small and frail he was, represented something much larger- and stronger- than even the primordials. This god felt undeniably weak yet strong, strong beyond comparison.

It unsettled him.

Potential, he realized. Potential was what it was. Despite being severely handicapped in terms of initial strength, this godling could grow into something much… stronger. Much more powerful- definitely even more powerful than him.

And by the look on his mother's face, he could see she knew it too, could see her proud eyes shining upon him.

"What shall I name him, Zeus?"

At the cross look on her son's face, Rhea scowled. "Oh, come now. I know he is a son of Kronos, but you are too. There isn't a need to shun him for it."

No. No, that's not it. Zeus thought, but he bit his tongue. If he was going to protect his role as the future ruler of the world, he had to play his cards carefully. He could already see Rhea's motherly affections turning to her most recent child. Her plans for him, and for his greatness, were plainly seen in her warm smile. It sickened Zeus.

I am supposed to be the chosen one! Not this… weakling! The very thought made his ichor boil. Resisting the urge to lash out and strike at the child, he clenched his fists. "Mother…" he spat, his voice curt. "I must be gone. I have a… meeting to attend."

Turning his back, he walked robotically from the room, leaving a bewildered Rhea behind him.

Rhea could tell that her son had something on his mind. His actions seemed even more robotic and stoic than usual.

She'd never really planned for him to be the future ruler; no, he was just a backup plan in case something happened to little Perseus. Speaking of her son…

Glancing down at the cute bundle in her arms, she sighed contently. The boy would remain weak for a few hundred years, but what was that to a god? His powers would soon catch up with Zeus's, and surpass it without much trouble.

He was calming, yet radiated a strange, unsettling aura… a dangerous, unexplainable aura. She pursed her lips. "You know what, child?" she muttered. "I think I shall call you Perseus. The God of all things dangerous… a god of potential and of strength and of skill. A fitting title for a fitting ruler."

The baby gurgled up at her again, and she felt a warm wave of affection wash over her. Yes, this child would be a good ruler.

Stretching, she, still carrying the child, made her way from her birthing chamber provided by Gaea out into the open, relishing the fresh air. Kronos would have no idea what hit him…

Powered by this thought, she catapulted across the fields. It was time to start preparing for Kronos's demise- starting with the wrenching, stomach-emptying immortal plants.

Secret Chamber

"I'm telling you… although weak now, he can and will become strong if we let this slide." Zeus boomed, his voice echoing through the metallic walls. A mass, larger and darker than any in the universe, contemplated silently at the end of the hall.

"Hm…" it murmured. The very sound of the voice sent shivers down his spine. He hated consorting with this primordial being, but it couldn't be helped. He couldn't fight his own mother to rid the world of the child… this was the only thing that could help him now.

As the chained being sat in quiet contemplation on the other end, Zeus couldn't help but feel nervous. Glancing once more upon the wrought-metal chains, he prayed that they'd hold.

The chains had been forged by a primordial, and it contained the life force of several powerful, trapped titans. Even with this extra precaution, Zeus couldn't help but feel scared. If this figure were freed… no. The possibility would be far too disastrous.

As if reading his thoughts, the figure spoke. "Perhaps I can help you… for a price, of course. I will bestow upon you temporarily the extra strength needed to best your mother and cast away the child in her protection… if only you'd loosen the bond on my left arm…"

Zeus stiffened at this. It was a high price to pay. Only a powerful god could even attempt to half of this bond, and even if he survived the attempt, he'd be indescribably drained. Although not completely freeing the primordial bound in its chains, if he attempted it, he'd give the figure much more influence. It was a personal struggle- brief pain and possible release of evil in exchange for personal gain, or do nothing and watch as you get shunned.

He came to a decision. Stepping forth, he brought out his master bolt and struck twice against the chains.

Instantly, he collapsed to the floor, writhing as dark matter entangled him. For a moment, it looked as if the force of the chains had won… but he, with the will of a stubborn bull, pushed back and expelled them from his spirit. It was a ridiculously tiring act. He was surprised he survived it himself.

A dark chuckle filled the room. The figure, cloaked, raised one hand, and Zeus was blown against the wall by the force of its aura. The power it exerted was enormous, its strength unthinkable. He paled at the thought of what the freed version could do.

"I will uphold my end of the deal…"

A dark force shot from under the cloaked hand; instantly, power, renewed and refreshed, surged to his limbs, a force he'd never felt before. The figure in the corner nodded, satisfied. He grinned, showing pitch-black teeth. "Nice doing business with you, godling."

The dark thundercloud raced across the sky, lightning cackling before it. Swerving to stay out of range of Mount Othrys, he raced through the skies, cackling madly. "I'm coming for you, mother…"

It crashed, headfirst, against the soil, sending mounds of dirt flying through the air. Rhea, startled, gasped as her son, grinning horrifically, rose from the earth, radiating a dark and tainted aura.

"Mother. I am here to give you two choices." his voice spoke triply, as if from three different primordials speaking as one. The voice sent shivers down her spine. "Zeus! What has happened to you!?" Rhea shrieked. The god grinned once more. His eyes, once blue, were stained pitch black.

It didn't take a genius to tell what had happened. Rhea's face instantly darked. "Fool! You fool!" she spat.

"Either willingly give me the boy, or I shall destroy you and the threat to my throne." Zeus boomed, completely ignoring her. "Choose wisely."

The titaness was at a loss. Part of her mind was reeling that her own son would dare attack her, but the other was in quick calculation. Twirling, she made use of the most powerful force available to her- her life spirit.

Screaming, she blasted a beam of energy straight at the child, shooting him thousands of feet into the sky and into nothing at all.

Zeus snarled. "What have you done with him?!"

"I have sent him to a place where you can never harm him ever again, Zeus." she replied, her voice smug. "Now do to me what you will! I am content in knowing that my boy is safe."

Zeus screamed in rage, lighting up the sky in thunder. "Oh, I don't think you'll be content much longer, dear mother…"

A dark blast of energy pierced the night, quickly followed by an ear-splitting scream. Lightning flashed as darkness smothered a piercing light- and then nothing. The place where the titaness Rhea had been now lay a mangled, bloody crater.
