Fate's Game: Part 1
Medea
A lone vampire stumbled through the dark alleyway, he leaned up against a wall and breathed a sigh of relief. Even though he didn't need to breathe his fear made him gasp for breath. He finally relaxed, then all of a sudden he had an odd feeling, by the time that he was fully aware of the fact that he was not alone, he had a stake in his heart and a silent scream in his throat. A figure cloaked in black walked away leaving the ashes of the unfortunate vampire.

Angel lounged around his apartment restlessly. The last few days he had seen close to none vamp action or any other kind of demon action as a matter of fact. Despite having a soul his instinctive urge to hunt and kill as a vampire was still there and he hadn't slain enough vampires lately to nearly satisfy that lust to kill. He was an animal a predator by nature, Darla had recognized that in him. Buffy shared this with him, she too was a predator he watched her as she tracked a vampire, the gleam in her eyes as she staked one. She was magnificent. This was what he had been attracted to at first. He sighed in resignation, he decided to train to keep his mind occupied, as Cordelia said, too much brooding, and no play made Angel, well a very broody vampire. He began with stretching and then began to train with the weapons. He fell on his bed exhausted. He was quickly fell asleep.

Buffy twisted around in her bed moaning she was dreaming that Spike was kissing her. She gasped as she woke up and sat up quickly. "Oh my gosh no!" She had been enjoying it in the dream. She thought about Spike, and realized that somewhere along the line she had stopped thinking of him as a punching bag and more like a friend. Now she knew that her feelings ran deeper than friendship. She groaned and put her head in her hands. Life was already complicated as is now she was in love with a vampire WITHOUT a soul. Riley had been the only normal thing in her chaotic life, well as normal as a ex-soldier who was part of a top-secret military project, can get. She knew that she would never be truly happy with him. She sighed and resolved that she would break up with him the next morning, it was better than putting it off and making it any more painful to him.

Spike sat in his lair thinking about Buffy, which was all he did these days. He had staked Harmony two weeks ago, she had been so annoying that Spike had finally decided to off her, feeling that a lonely life was a better life than one with Harmony. He knew that the only person he wanted to be with was Buffy, but those words she had told him when she had pushed him down in the alley rang in his head. "You are below me." He knew he was pathetic, where was the master vampire that had killed two slayers? "Bloody Slayer," he muttered.
