Right Song and Dance
Screwing up his courage Finn quietly pushed open the door to find Kurt's room in darkness and he only had the sound of Kurt's sobs to guide him to the bed where the boy was wrapped up in his misery of losing the audition to Blaine.
After Kurt's little, well huge and spectacular, breakdown at dinner tonight Finn and Burt had talked about Kurt. Burt didn't know how to help Kurt but Finn had a moment and had rushed up the stairs to his room.
The internet had been a problem and he'd phoned Artie for help, and then he'd struck gold.
Downloading the songs had taken time but now they were stored in Finn's ipod. He crept up to the bed, made sure the right song was ready to play and then plugged the ipod into the speakers Kurt kept on his bedside table.
When he pressed the play button the music started up and he fled the room before Kurt could kill him.
Finn made it to the bottom of the stairs before he heard it, Kurt was totally singing along to tune and the bigger boy smiled, awesome, his little bro was knocking it out of the field on the first go.
In the living room Burt looked up, "Is that Kurt singing?"
"Yeah," Finn said, "He just found the right song." Sitting down he fidgeted and then asked, "Burt? Is it okay if I don't do as many hours at the garage, only I've got Glee and Football."
Burt gave him a sympathetic look, "How's boot camp coming?"
"Good," Finn smiled at his stepdad, "I found the right dance, I totally rocked it."
They settled down and Burt switched the channel to a game so they both kicked back and commented now and again. Finn could get used to this.
A hand landed on his shoulder and Kurt handed him a plate of cookies, "Just so you know Finn, next time you walk into my room without knocking I'll hide all your dinosaur toys and I'll steal your console controllers for a month."
And then Kurt walked off humming the tune Finn had found for him. Finn loved his little brother but he could be really scary and he made great cookies.
As Finn bit into the cookie him mom walked in, "What was Kurt singing? I'm sure I know the song."
"James Blunt's 'You're Beautiful'," Finn said pleased with himself, "Kurt's voice is high like his too."
"It's a good match son," Burt told him and Finn beamed. Sometimes life was hard and you fell over as you learnt the steps but Mr Schue had been right to believe in him, and he believed in Kurt, he would have made an awesome Tony.
A/N: Sorry for any and all mistakes, I've tried to catch those I could, but I'm only human.
