A/N: This is a very short thing I wrote after a friend asked me 'what would make Kakashi join the Akatsuki?' I meant to extend it, but it just wasn't there...

Kakashi knelt by the memorial stone, running his finger across Obito's name as the cold memories of that day crept into his mind. That had been the worst day of the young Hatake's life...he had lost his first love...his only love...

He bit back bitter tears as memories of the lively Uchiha came back to him, making his heart ache miserably at the thought of what might have been, had he not been such a fool. He sat there miserably in the ringing silence of the pouring rain, contemplating what kind of man Obito might have been...

"Obito...I miss you so much..." He muttered, running his fingers across the boys name. The jounnin sat there in the painful silence for what felt like an eternity, letting his bitter tears mix with the rain.

"I can bring him back..." He heard a voice call from the shadows of the trees. Kakashi froze, drawing a kunai and looking around wildly, his heart pounding and his vision blurred with tears.

"Who's there...?" Kakashi snapped, pulling up on his hitai-ate and masking his tears quickly. A man in an orange mask stepped out of the shadows, his black and red cloak swirling dangerously around his ankles. Kakashi's eyes widened upon seeing this mans dangerously hateful chakra and the trademark Akatsuki cloak; Who was this man?

"I can bring him back...your lost love...if only you turn your back on Konoha and follow me instead..." The man said, his tone smooth and strong behind the mask. Kakashi eyed the man wearily.

"You can bring Obito back? How?"

"Follow me and you'll see." The black haired man replied. Without a second thought, Kakashi stood up and followed the man into the trees, Obito's eye tearing up as Kakashi turned his back to the Village and disappeared into the night without a backwards glance. The thought of getting Obito back outweighed his loyalty to the village...to him, Obito outweighed anything...
