ATE: This was an idea I've had for awhile, and my theory of how there are a lot of Hobbes in the Fable games. This is a one-shot. Enjoy!
Declaimer: I don't own Fable or anything related.

The Real Origin of the Hobbe
We all know how in the land of Albion (AKA the world in the Fable games) there are these creatures we all know as the Hobbe. We all know that the origin of the Hobbe started when the souls of lost children were stolen by dark Nymphs. But with the increase of the Hobbe population people have began to wonder how this occurred in the first place. Parents are aware that none of their children are running away, but is that all?
Now, I have a feeling that everyone's probably confused with what I'm saying. But I assure you, it's not as confusing as you think.
Remember the Hero of Oakvale? The Hero of Bowerstone? The Hero of Brightwall? What about all the Heroes before the three I've just mentioned? Okay, so you probably don't know about the Heroes that came before the Hero of Oakvale, but you get the idea. I bet you're wondering what the Heroes in Albion's history have to do with Hobbes? I'm getting there, so wait!
All the Heroes have had families of their own, some have even had more than one spouse and tried to keep them secret from their other spouses.
Then there's the issue of divorce.
Yes, divorce! You read right!
Divorce.
Everyone in Albion has experienced divorce at least once in their live (unless you're one of the lucky people that managed to keep everything together in the family unit). Even the Heroes have been through divorce for not keeping their family happy. Or the fact that that specific spouse somehow found out about all the other spouses the Hero has had. Divorce happens! And if divorce happens, the family is torn apart! As in the spouse leaves and the children that the Hero had with his spouse (or spouses if they had more than one) are taken away by the Child Protection Agency, never to be seen ever again.
Do you see where I'm going with this? No? Then I better explain about the kids.
All the children that were taken away during the divorce are what I'm talking about! Didn't you read the part of how Hobbes came to be? Put two and two together and what do you get?
If your answer was that the children taken away when the divorced couple separated somehow ran away and became Hobbes themselves, then you're correct! Those poor children that the Heroes were parents of became horrible monsters, and explain the increase of the Hobbe population all throughout Albion.
So in a way the Hero(es) could be the one to blame for this outcome. Regardless if any Hero was unaware of such an outcome and unintentionally did it, or they were aware and deliberately did it so anyways, the Hero can be blamed. Why else was it that no matter how hard and long they tried to search for their children that they couldn't find them?
And it just so happened that when the Hero of Brightwall witnessed Walter scaring a magic wilding Hobbe to the point that it died of a heart attack when he said, "Boo!", none of them were aware of the possibility of that Hobbe being one of the Hero of Brightwall's long lost (literally) step-sibling that they never knew existed.
