Savior from the fog (David Jacobs One-shot)

I don't own Newsies in any way.

I ran down the streets of New York from some Bronx newsies that were chasing me. I sat down in an alley and was breathing deeply.

A figure came out of the fog.

*Jack's Pov*

I leaned down and touched the girl.

Her eyes shot up to mine. She had big hazel eyes, which were completely dilated.

"Hey", I said softly, "It's okay. Youse fine now".

She latched onto my arm.

I stroked her hair and held her tightly. I picked her up. I couldn't take this traumatized girl to the lodging house, so I took her to the Jacobs' house.

"Dear lord", Mrs. Jacobs said.

"Jack?" David and Sarah asked.

"Found 'er in an alley. Scared out of 'er wits", I told them.

David took the girl and put her on the couch.

She shyed away from him. She whimpered and looked at me.

I sat down and said, "Me name's Jack Kelley. Dis is David and Sarah Jacobs. Da Jacobs family is gonna be takin' care a youse".

"Hol…Hol…Holiday", she stuttered.

"Well, Holiday. Ise best be goin'", I said.

*Holiday's Pov*

Jack kissed Sarah goodbye and left.

David came over to me with a bucket of water. He took my hand and started washing my cuts.

I sniffed and whipped my face.

"So…what's your real name?" David asked.

"Holly", I told him.

"That's a pretty name", David said.

*David's Pov*

After getting Holly cleaned up, I read to her a bit. I picked Romeo and Juliet.

She fell asleep after the balcony scene.

I tried to get up, but she had her head on my chest and her arms wrapped around my abdomen. I settled down and marked my place in the book. I set it on my bed stand and turned the light off. I silently thanked Jack Kelley for bringing me this angel.
