Laurel walked through the busy law office discussing why she was discussing another seemingly dead end case. "We don't need to go outside the law to find justice." She turned around coming to a dead stop, facing her own personal ghost as her mind went back in time.
Laurel collapsed in heap on the floor. Tears streamed down her face leaving dark rivers where makeup had once been. NO! This could not be true! She could not be gone! Laurel picked up a pillow slinging it across the room. She continued picking them up until there was nothing left to throw. She had sobbed until there were no more tears to come. At least it wasn't you. The thought came out of nowhere. She was surprised by it. She was grief stricken she shouldn't be thinking like that. She ran off with your boyfriend and that is why she is dead. You can't blame her you fell for him too.
Laurel stood in front of the empty grave, a cold wind whipped at her hair but she didn't feel it. Her family had even been denied the decency of having a body to bury. No, Oliver Queen and the ocean had seen to that. The anger at him that had started when she found out had only grown. She had been told that she would have to forgive in order to move on. Right now, that felt impossible.
Sound returned to the room as her own private trip down memory lawn subsided. She felt like she was being ripped in two. Part of her desperately wanted to run in the other direction. She had worked hard to try and get past everything. To move on and make something of herself. She thought she had done quite well in that department. She didn't want to have everything drug back up again.
The other half of her wanted to run down the sidewalk and scratch Oliver Queen's eyeballs out. She knew she should be happy for his family. They had her son back. But, what about her family? What about her sister? They weren't granted a miracle, but how could she happy about the Queens being granted one?
Laurel noticed something as he walked towards her. He had changed. The swagger was gone, replaced by a more subtle confidence. His eyes were different. She couldn't quite put a finger on it, but there was definitely something different. She was about to fall into her old routine of always seeing the best in people, sometimes despite herself. No! You have been waiting to give him a piece of your mind ever since you found out his was alive. Here's your chance. Laurel steadied herself, no she was not going to let this go past.
"Why don't we step outside where we can talk better?"
