Walking quietly through the forest Seamus drew his cloak tighter across his shoulders. Shivering, he trudged on hoping to find the small clearing he was searching for. The leaves crunched under his feet as he walked, making an eerie crinkling echo throughout the trees. Silently cursing himself for forgetting his scarf, Seamus looked up into the sky and noticed it was starting to snow. He desperately wanted to be back up in the tower, to be chatting idoly with Ron and sipping hot chocolate with Dean. But he didn't turn back, he kept walking. Stopping only to check her directions.
When he found the clearing she was already there, facing away from him, head bent back looking at the stars and mouth wide open catching snow flakes. She was dressed inappropriately for the weather, but seemed unfazed by the cold. Seamus watched in wonder was the chilly breeze swirled around her, coaxing her unkempt hair and orange skirt to fly with the snow.
Seamus watched from just within the trees as she began to hum. It was a melody he'd never heard before, and yet it sound vaguely familiar. He watched as her hips began to move with the wind, flowing with the snow. He watched her with such intensity he almost missed her whisper his name.
"Seamus." She breathed dreamily, turning on bare feet.
"Luna," he croaked, stumbling into the clearing.
Luna stepped forward idoly twirling on a piece of damp, wind swept hair. "Good morning."
He looked at her for a moment, seeing happiness in her dark blue eyes. "Good afternoon to you to, Luna."
"Why should it be the afternoon? Why can't it be Morning? It seems like Morning to me." Luna said. Then added, "Time seems to be an illusion... wouldn't you agree?"
"I don't know." He answered. "I never really thought about it."
Luna tilted her head sideways and looked at him quizzicality, then smiled.
"Dance with me." She demanded, grabbing at his hand. Which he gladly gave to her.
Spinning around in the snow and wind Seamus had never felt so happy. Twirling around with the strange beauty that is Luna Lovegood made him forget the cold. Made him want to do crazy things like jumping into the frozen lake and leaping out of the astronomy tower.
After what could have been minutes or hours Luna unattached herself from Seamus and began to dance by herself. Luna leaped into the air with a grace Seamus hadn't know existed. Her drenched hair spun in an angelic way and her skirt tried to fly away in the wind.
Once she'd stopped her dance Luna waltzed over to Seamus and grinned.
She kissed his cheek and ran off.
After what felt like minutes, but was probably hours, Seamus headed back to the school. Humming that strangely familiar tune as he walked.
