A/N: Well, this is a surprise! Usually, I'm really really apprehensive about uploading stories, (I get nervous quickly ^^;) But I decided to get up the courage and upload this. Please tell me what you think! I'd love to improve on my story telling skills. Constructive criticism would be fantastic! Also, should I turn this into a drabble collection? I'm not sure...
Disclaimer: Sadly, I don't own Yuna or Tidus, or even Dissidia for that matter. I am only borrowing the characters ^^
The snow is strange – mesmerizing, Yuna thinks, as she sits, enthralled by the falling flakes. Somewhere, in the back of her mind, something prickles. Perhaps it is a long forgotten memory, and after a bit more thought, she decides that is exactly what it is -a place. It's definitely a place. A place beginning with the letter M? "Macarena?" she asks herself, then shakes her head softly. "No. But that's close…I know it."
There's movement behind her, and she quickly turns, staff in hand. It's a manikin, orange in colour, hair spiky and sword bubbling. She wants to shut her eyes in despair, to put her staff down and stop fighting. Yuna knows it's not him, but the likeness is too strong and after so long of being without him, it hurts all the more.
It doesn't take long, Valefor and Bahamut's powers combined quickly finish the manikin off, and it fades away before her eyes. That hits too close to home for her, and she lets herself collapse to her knees in the snow. "Macalania…" she whispers, as the snowflakes dance around her. "Macalania woods…that place…we…" The memories rush back to her, a flurry in her head. She remembers. The spring. The kiss. The promise.
That promise.
"You promised!" She cries out in anguish. "You promised me we could go to Zanarkand! You promised you would protect me! To stay with me until the end! So where are you now? Where are you…? Why aren't you here with me!"
Yuna stops, the silence now deafening her. She's glad Lightning and the others aren't here right now. She doesn't want them to see her in a moment of weakness.
Closing her eyes, she decides the silence needs to stop. Bringing her fingers to her mouth, she whistles. It rings clear, cutting through the snow, before falling silent once more. Yuna looks down, tears beginning to streak her face.
"If I whistle, you'll come running…so where are you?"
Tidus doesn't come.
