Leafpool glared at the starlit cat standing in front of her. "It's too late to convince me otherwise, Spottedleaf. The damage has been done. I've betrayed my sons, my daughter won't forgive me, and Crowfeather can't look at me the same way again. I don't deserve to be a medicine cat. I'm resigning and becoming a warrior."
"But you don't have to do this," Spottedleaf protested, "It's not like everyone hates you."
"I lied to everyone. Hollyleaf killed Ashfur, and now she's dead as well because of the dishonesty that came with the birth of my kits. It's all my-"
"Listen to me, Leafpool!" Spottedleaf snapped without even caring that she was interrupting, "Do you think it was easy for me to act like I only considered Firestar a good friend and nothing else when I was alive? It was the hardest thing I had ever done. I couldn't stand knowing he loved me, without being able to admit the same thing to him. It killed me emotionally each day. But I sucked it up and stayed a medicine cat because it was my destiny." Flames surrounded the two cats. Leafpool was a bit scared. Spottedleaf was always so quiet and compassionate, never snapping at anyone. For the first time, the younger cat wished she wasn't in StarClan at all.
The flames died down as Spottedleaf took a deep breath to calm her before continuing, now back to her quiet and levelheaded self. "It was my destiny to be a medicine cat. You may think you should just be a warrior. But that isn't what you're meant to be, Leafpool. You have so much more potential as a medicine cat than you do as a warrior. Please don't do this to yourself."
Leafpool stood there, speechless, but somehow managed to find her ability to speak despite how stunned she was. "It's too late. My mind has been made up. I'm stepping down from my position when I wake up and accepting that I'll just have to be a warrior. Jayfeather will do fine without me."
Spottedleaf gave a resigned sigh and simply nodded before turning around and padding away, slowly fading into the mist. This left Leafpool to watch the older cat leave until she too began to fade away as she returned to the waking world.
AN: I apologize for the insane shortness. This just randomly popped into my mind, and I couldn't think of how to make it longer. Like it? Hate it? Please review? :)
