Alvin and the Chipmunks
Revenge Never Solves Anything
I blinked tears out of my eyes. My brother, Alvin was dead, killed by an assasin's bullet meant for me. He sacrificed himself and I owed him one.
(flashback)
It was a month ago at our last concert. We sang a fan favorite, "I wanna know what love is" with our girlfriends, the Chipettes. As Alvin and I sidestepped in front of each other, I noticed a sniper pointed at me. BAM! It was fired. As I used my Green Lantern power ring to conjure up a sheild, Alvin jumped in front of me. He screamed as the bullet entered his chest. As he fell to the ground, I caught him.
"Why, Alvin? I could have blocked the bullet." I said. Alvin smiled weakly. "No way, bro. That bullet was golden. You would have died." he said, showing me the bullet. I looked into the crowd. The sniper was bald and had square glasses. Our old enemy Ian Hawke. Alvin was rushed to the hospital. Simon, Theodore, the Chipettes, and I never left his bedside. That night, I dreamt that I saw Alvin on a road with a fork. The sign said, "Left: Life Right: Reward" "Alvin, please, go left. The boys need you, Brittany needs you. I need you." I said. Alvin smiled. "It's my time, Noah. You're the oldest munk now," (Technically, though Simon and I are twins, I'm older than him by 4.5 minutes) "Look after our family. I love you, little brother." Alvin said. Then he walked dow the right road. BEEEEEEEEEP! The flatline on Alvin's macine went dead. So did Alvin.
As Alvin was laid to rest, I made a vow. "Ian Hawke, thou shalt taste the vengence Of Noah Seville, Green Lantern of sector 2814.5" I knew where Hawke lived. I flew there fast as heck. When I arrived, I saw the place was deserted. "Hawke, I swear, I will find you!" I yelled.
I noticed a spare pair of Hawke's glasses. I picked them up, extracted the DNA with my ring, and used my ring like a metal detector, leading me to Hawke. The next morning, Sunday, to be exact, I approached my local church, and went in to pray. "Lord Jesus, I know that you can here me. Tell Alvin that I love and miss him. We all do. Help me in my quest." I prayed.
I kept following the trail util I found a gutter. In tha gutter, Ian Hawke was shivering. When he saw me, His eyes widened in fear. I grabbed him with a gian green fist. (A favorite among Green Lanterns of Earth.) I then threw him down. I jumped on top of him, a jade dagger appearing in my hand. Then, I felt a hand upon my shoulder.
I looked behind me, my breath caught in my throat. Alvin was floating above me. "Noah, I know how you feel, but killing him is not the right thing to do. Vengence doesn't solve anything. Besides, its against the Green Lantern code." he said. "But he killed you." I said. Alvin smiled. "Leave him and to my grave. God has a plan." he said.
I followed Alvin to his grave. "Noah, remove your rosery, set it aflame with your ring, and place it on my grave." Alvin said. I did as he asked. "Now, chant the Green Lantern oath." "In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's light!" Alvin's grave glowed green. "Now, in exchange for the return of my soul, you must offer one in return." he said.
"I understand." I said. I jumped into the Green light. I expected to die. But instead, I heard a powerful voice. "Noah Jagers-Seville, you have offered to die so that Alvin to live. For that, you shall live, as will Alvin."
Alvin descended to the ground and changed. He looked solid. "Alvin, ar you..." Alvin opened his arms. "Get over here and find out." he said. I hugged my brother. He was alive.
