Welcome to Never be the Same. This story is about Jonathan taking Clary away from Jace and the Institute and her journey to escape or accept her fate. Jace and the Crew are on a mission to save her, but will they be able to in time? There are some parts that are from the books and others from the TV show. None of these characters belong to me-they all belong to Cassandra Clare.

Author's Note: This is my first story so I'm sorry if there are any mistakes. I'm so new at this so I don't think the chapters will be long until I can get some experience under my belt. I hope you like it :)

The night was still young as Jace and I were walking back from our "first date." Of course, the date couldn't have gone worse, but Jace reminded me of why I fell in love with him in the first place. His words echoed in my mind, reliving the single moment that made me fall deeper in love with him:

"You're special. Everything about you. Like how you scrunch your nose when you're thinking, or like how you always double knot your shoes before you train. Like how you always have a piece of charcoal in your pocket. But it's more than that, it's how you always see the best in people, in me. And I'm scared that if we take this too quickly, you're going to see something in me that you don't like. I just don't want to ruin this"

The words he poured out from his heart showed me the vulnerable side of Jace that I never really knew existed. He always put his job as a shadowhunter as priority, never having time for anything to get between him and it, until now. Jace, the golden boy, had a weakness, and it was me.

As we continued down the street, we stopped along the curb at a crosswalk. He grabbed my hand and stared into my eyes. I gave him my signature smirk, pulled him closer to me, and dug my head under his. He put his arms around me and started to whisper, "Clary, I…"

All of sudden a portal popped up in the middle of the street and out came the one and only Jonathan, my brother, with his army of Endarkened shadowhunters.

"Well dear sister, looks like I caught you a great time."

Jace immediately pulled out his seraph blade and took a defensive stance pushing me behind him.

"Don't worry golden boy, I'm not taking her away from you… tonight. I came to propose a deal."

"Why would I ever accept or even consider a deal made by you" I said.

"Because you want to protect the ones you love. If you come with me, I will not execute every one of your loved ones. I will even go to the extent of not tormenting them with battling the Endarkened. They will be free of me threats, but only if you willingly stay with me."

"Couldn't you just make me drink from the infernal cup? That would sure be a hell of a lot easier cause I will never go with you willingly."
"Now what fun would that be Clarissia. You will come with me willingly someday. It's your choice, but you only have until tomorrow to make it. Until I see you again sister"

Jonathan went back through his portal with all his soldiers while Jace and I stood breathless in the street.

Once we got back to the institute, Jace said, "You know that you will never have to take that deal right? I'm going to protect you until my last breath"

I simply nodded and laid my head on his chest, "Should we tell the others?"

"No, that'll only worry them and keep them on edge. Let's just keep to ourselves and if he doesn't pull anything tomorrow, we'll tell them the day after. Let's go to bed, it's pretty late."
I nodded and cuddled up next to him while he kissed the top of my head. I found a comfortable spot underneath his arm and before I knew it, we were both asleep.

I woke up the the sound of screams. I glanced at the clock and it read 4:00. Jace was already up and alert before he could wake me. He got up.

"What was that?" I asked.

"I don't know" Jace replied, "we should go check it out"

He handed me a seraph blade and we snuck out of the bedroom. To our right we saw an Endarkened soldier killing one of our shadowhunters. "Jonathan" Jace said.
