In daylights,

"Landing in two point seven minutes."

Specs smiled, looking over to Krayonder; the young man's eyes were glowing excitedly as the drop pod got closer and closer to the planet below. They were stopping on a small dwarf planet to refuel. She had been told that the planet almost completely resembled earth, except it was ten million times cleaner. There was so many trees that they were actually able to have multiple forests.

She was able to see a forest once when her mother took her camping. She knew, however, that Krayonder hadn't. He had grown up on a G.L.E.E base on the moon, so he'd only been on the earth a couple of times. He was now tapping his foot in anticipation, a boyish grin on his face.

"Flowers, man!" he had told her when they found out they were going to stop there. "There's going be, like, actual flowers and trees and stuff! You know what? As soon as we get there, I'm going to pick you a nice pretty flower. I've never touched a real plant before!"

"Landing in five," came the automated voice of the drop pod. The two friends shared a glance at each other.

"Four,"

Krayonder was poised and ready to run as soon as the doors opened. He wanted to feel dirt under his feet and the sun on his shoulders. This was probably the best moment of his life, second only to when Specs went to the G.L.E.E gala with him. They came so close to kissing, but neither of them had said a word about it since.

"Three,"

He hoped that one day he'd be able do actually do it, be he would need a serious rush of adrenaline before he'd have nearly enough bravery to kiss her.

"Two,"

Specs loved the way he practically turned into a little kid when he was happy. It was a quality that not many Rangers still had. They had fought tougher in a few of the battles near the end of the robot wars, but even those had been enough to turn a few of their peers into hardened fighting machines. He was a little glow of hope in her life, and she never wanted to let go of it.

"One."

The doors slowly opened. A bright light flooded in, causing Specs' eyes to water. She couldn't see a thing. After her eyes began to adjust, she looked out to the planet before her.

Krayonder was sprawled out in the bed of wildflowers below. He had run before he had even been able to see, and he tripped on the way down. He smiled up at her.

"Come on, man! This is awesome!"

She ran after him, and as soon as she was close enough, he grabbed her by the legs, causing her to fall on top of him.

"Krayonder!"

They laughed, rolling around in the flowers. When both of their sides hurt and they couldn't breathe anymore, Krayonder picked up a bright blue one and stuck it into one of her auburn curls. She blushed shyly, causing the weirdest sensation to course through his veins. Suddenly, he desperately needed to have her lips on his. The urge was so strong that all it took was one more smile from his beautiful, beautiful friend before he pulled her close to him and kissed her as passionately as physically possible.

She had been taken aback at first, her hazel eyes wide. But she soon let the bliss take her body over as her hands rested on his chest.

All of a sudden, Krayonder felt something digging into his side. He reluctantly pulled away from her sweet lips to find Taz driving her boot into him.

"Come on, idiota, we're not here to roll around in the daises."

They sat up, laughing. He pressed a small kiss to her nose and jumped up, extending his hand out to her.

And that was it; their first kiss. No fancy outfits, no fireworks, no orchestra playing dramatic music in the background. Just a field of flowers and a sunny day.

And I wouldn't have wanted it any other way, she thought as she took his hand and followed her friends.
