Anakin knew it wasn't right. Anakin knew he had done something wrong. Anakin knew that his actions could possibly lead to him failing Ahsoka... No, it was too late. He had failed Ahsoka. By not letting his padawan and himself share a training bond he had failed her.

Anakin and Ahsoka had a natural bond. A bond that develops over time through friendship and closeness and harmony and appreciation, instead of a master/padawan training bond that is forced to develope over mere minutes when the padawan is assigned to the older Jedi Knight. It's so the padawan can learn from the their master, though Anakin never formed that kind of bond with Ahsoka.

They had a natural bond.

The emotions, thoughts and even pain, were much stronger for the other one to sense. Force-sensitives who shared a natural bond were more alike and connected better with each other—wether they realised it or not. They were not bad, but they were not to be formed in the Jedi Order. Because, natural bonds were stronger—which led to stronger attachment—, and when broken—either by separation or death—, the grief of the other partners loss can be devastating. It can send Jedi spiralling towards the Dark Side or so deep in sorrow that they lose who they once were... Maybe even kill the surviving partner.

Training bonds were easily broken; normally when the padawan is knighted. But, they can be broken by death too. They do caused grief if the bond is severed by death, though they are not as strong and were much safer to possess.

Anakin knew that he shouldn't have let this happen. He shouldn't have watched silently as he felt the natural bond forming between himself and Ahsoka. He should have just developed a regular training bond instantly. If only he obeyed the Jedi Code for just once, he—or Ahsoka—would be spared so much pain, when one end of the bond was broken due to either one of them dying.

He never worried about it until now, though having returned from the awful planet Mortis, he realised that what he let happen was a huge mistake. Never again does he want to feel the internal pain and suffering from when Ahsoka died. Yes, she was resurrected, but it still hurt when he felt their bond snapped like a dagger was being plunged into his heart.

If he died... Ahsoka would feel the exact same pain.

She is 16, though she's still a child. Everyone knows how close they are, and if Anakin were to perish, the amount of devastation would probably be overpowering for Ahsoka—with their Natural Bond and all. Ahsoka wouldn't understand. She wouldn't understand why she would feel so sorrowful. She never knew that the bond her and her master shared was wrong and not allowed. If anyone found out, she would be blamed... And not even know what she did wrong.

A/N

I actually don't know anything about natural bonds in SW, though I know that the Jedi Order don't allow them. Most padawans and masters are supposed to have training bonds (that I know of), and i really don't know if Ahsoka and Anakin shared one in the Clone Wars. I just thought that they probably wouldn't, since Anakin definitely has a thing for disobeying the council and forming attachments, so I'm guessing Ahsoka would be no different (?)
