"I'll meet you an hour before sunrise in the garden," Benedick said, smiling. "That sounds wonderful!" Beatrice replied, wondering if he would kiss her at sunset, imagining how romantic that would be. "And then...and then I bet he would ask me to marry him!" she thought excitedly, smiling to herself, already planning the wedding.
Beatrice sat on the bench waiting. And waiting. And...no that was more like pacing. She threw her hands up in the air in frustration. "I do not believe this! He is nowhere to be found! One would think that he would have the decency to show up!"
Benedick looked at the darkening sky nervously. "I am going to be late! This is horrible! Absolutely horrendous! She might just kill me!" he thought worriedly, wishing he could pace in the small space of the carirrage.
"He was supposed to be here an hour ago! I cannot believe this! The nerve!" she muttered to herself as she stomped away.
Right then Benedick arrived. As he ran to the garden he made the discovery that Beatrice was gone. "Oh no! Oh no oh no oh no!" he wailed, nearly crying. He knew there was no way he'd ever get her to listen to him tell her that he was late because of a ridiculous (in hindsight) card game. Sadly he was right.
