Um, hi! This is my first fanfiction, so flame it all you want! This fanfiction popped into my head after listening to The Reckless And The Brave, by All Time Low, and noticing how some of the lyrics seemed to fit Donna's story. You don't neccesarily have to listen to the song to understand it, but it's recommended- it's a great song. R&R, please!
Disclaimer: I don't own any song lyrics that appear in this chapter. And by the way, disclaimers saying 'I don't own this fandom' are really unneccesary- you're on Fanfiction for a reason, people!
Donna Noble leaned back in her chair, turning on her CD player. A friend of hers, Martha Jones, had lent it to her and said it was very good. It was by called All Time Low. Turning it on, she sat back and listened.
'Long live the reckless and the brave'
Donna suddenly had a flash of her and a strange man, waving at something that looked like blobs. She shuddered, then dismissed it.
'I don't think I wanna be saved'
Donna reeled in her chair as she remembered River Song, Lee, and being saved to the computer. She put her hands to her head.
'My song has not been sung'
The Ood rushed into her head, and she remembered the details with amazing clarity.
'So long live us...'
As the song continued, the new lyrics triggering something in her brain line by line, memories rushed back. They came in a blur, and rewatching all her old memories, Donna came across the thing that could save her in an instant.
"Jenny." She breathed. Jenny was a Time Lady- and could surely hold the part of the Doctor's memories she couldn't. The DoctorDonna could easily calculate how much time she had left- two hours- and how to contact Jenny- but with a start, her memories fully integrated themselves. Jenny was dead.
Or was she?
The DoctorDonna could easily come to a conclusion- the life in the ship would have brought her back. The way to contact her was through Torchwood- and with a start, Donna knew exactly why Martha had approached her. She was supposed to keep an eye on her. Donna laughed as connections flew in front of her eyes, and she grabbed her phone, punching in Martha's number.
"Hey, Donna. What's up? It's almost midnight."
Donna thought how to bring it up. Considering it, and thinking there was no easy way, she decided to go straight for the revealing.
"Working you hard over at Torchwood?"
She could hear Martha start to respond before the realization hit her and she gasped.
"H-how... Donna?"
"I remember. That CD you gave me? Somehow, it triggered my memories. I have two hours. I need to contact Jenny. Do you have any way? Jenny, the Doctor's daughter?"
Martha was silent a moment, and Donna could hear keys clacking.
"Yep. She says she can be here in thirty minutes. Should we contact the Doctor in the meantime?"
Donna considered this. It wad completely possible this wouldn't work, and the Doctor would be crushed all over again. It was better for him not to know.
"No, don't tell him. Is Jenny on her way?"
Martha made a noise of assent. "She says around 25 minutes, and if she can she'll try to shave five to ten minutes off that time."
Donna started to replay the song, listening to the lyrics and smiling. She would listen to the whole album- after all, she had twenty-five minutes to kill.
