AN: This was written as a gift for my love. Lol it was a similar situation, actually. She accused me of forgetting our anniversary, and I was just like "I didn't forget...I was just trying to come up with something..." lol it was true, too. xD And I figured you guys were due for some fluff.

Lassiter was in trouble now. Shawn seemed to be under the impression that he had forgotten a day of special importance to the couple. Some psychic he was. But that was probably why Lassiter had been super extra careful. He didn't want his boyfriend to figure it out.

Looks like he had been a little too careful.

"I can't believe you forgot!" were the words that had greeted him when he had opened the front door.

Lassiter had blinked a few times, startled by Shawn. He was standing there, arms crossed with a scowl on his face, anger radiating from his person.

"I—uh…what?"

"You forgot what today was, didn't you?"

Okay. Lassiter had been more than a little too careful. He winced because the kitten he was holding in his hand behind his back was getting antsy and accidently clawed him. But when Shawn's eyes narrowed in response, Lassiter knew he was in even deeper.

"Shawn—"

"Don't Shawn me, Carlton. You forgot today's our anniversary." Shawn took a step forward and Lassiter flinched, shrinking back slightly. And then there was a tiny meow. Lassiter opened an eye to see what happened. It had probably been a reflex, but Lassiter had lifted his arm, holding out the little orange kitten with the green ribbon tied around her neck. Shawn was looking at the kitten, eyes wide.

"I didn't forget. See? I got you a cat." But now Lassiter was starting to think this wasn't one of his best ideas.

"You…got me a cat?"

"Yes. You like cats. So I got you a cat."

"But you shoot cats."

"That was one time! And that cat had it coming!"

After a moment, Shawn took the kitten and held her to his chest, petting her gently. Then he looked at Lassiter and grinned. "I love you."

"I love you, too. Happy anniversary, Shawn."

Shawn tilted his head, watching him for a moment. Then he winked. "You'll get yours after dinner."

And as Shawn turned to walk away, Lassiter had a problem with his pants getting a little too tight.
