Sometimes, you look down at your city and wonder why you do what you do. With the wind rushing through your hair and sirens wailing, drawing near, when hopelessness is at it's peak.
Because is this city really worth saving? Does it even want to be saved?
Sometimes, you don't know why you still fight this fight, but you only think like this when you're in the grasp of darkness, when terror is abundant and Batman is nowhere to be found and Robin isn't helping anyone and you are all alone and-
And nothing. You can't lie like this.
You don't think Gotham is worth saving, nor do you think it ever will be. Even now, you start to believe that it isn't as simple as what you think, instead it might be what you know deep down inside yourself.
It was once said that some things aren't able to be saved. Maybe this is what that meant. Maybe Gotham isn't salvageable.
Maybe you don't want to fight this fight anymore.
And yet, you do.
