"Evans!" James Potter called as he pushed open the glass door, causing the bell above to tinkle. Lily Evans snapped up from her paperwork to look towards the source of the familiar voice. Her face flushed immediately for some inexplicable reason.

"Potter. What are you doing here?" she asked, running a hand through her long, wavy hair. Nervously, she glanced around the room for customers who might find James's behavior a bit odd.

"I'm visiting you, of course! It's been a boring summer, Evans, and Sirius is off with some bird today, leaving me all alone…" he sighed wistfully.

"That 'some bird' happens to be my best friend, James," Lily scoffed. James gave a sheepish smile and a shrug before walking towards the counter Lily was standing behind.

"So, how's business been today?" he asked while glancing around the empty shop.

"Not too great. Apparently people don't want to buy flowers unless it's a special occasion," she released a long stream of air in a sigh and her bangs flew up from the air puff. After offering her a grin, James turned around and strode over to a bucket of tulips. Giving in to temptation, Lily allowed herself to stare at his backside as he retreated.

Careful examination of each and every tulip in the vicinity occurred until James paused at one. It was perfectly rounded and full. It was red at the base of the petals, near the stem, and gradually turned white towards the end of the petals. It was perfect. He plucked it out of the bin and walked towards Lily.

"James, do you even have muggle money to pay for that?" Lily asked with a glare.

"Of course I do," he responded with a smirk and pulled out some coins. He paid her the proper price and she expected him to leave with his purchase. She was wrong.

"Lily, I know it's a special occasion, but I want you to have this flower," he said sincerely. A wide smile passed her lips for a moment until she realized what he had said.

"A special occasion?"

"Yeah. You're going to dance with me," he grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him.

"James! You can't just–" she started, but he cut her off.

"Come on, it will be fun! Besides, your favorite song is on," he winked. Sure enough, Abba's Dancing Queen was playing. Lily blushed and took a step towards him.

"You're so demanding," she rolled her eyes and grabbed his hands.
