Title: Little Loves
Chapter Title: The Young Alice
Pairing: One-sided Hamish/Alice
A/N: I've read quite a few Hatter/Alice stories, I've loved this pairing for years now, and as of late I have noted that all the stories that involve Tarrant going to the Upperland, Hamish is written as this guy who's cruel and such. I find it rather sad people do that. Sure he's snobbish and such, but it's the way he was raised- so I have decided to create a series of one-shot of the lives that revolved around Hamish and Alice before his proposal. I hope you readers keep your minds open and not focus solemnly on the Hamish you saw in the movie.

~* *~
Hamish was four years old when he first laid eyes on the new born, Alice.
She was pale with bright blue eyes. Her stare was plastered on everything, and everyone, that moved about around her. Curiosity filled her gaze and her limbs were flailing about, figuring out how her new body worked. Everyone was filled with joy, especially Alice's family, but Hamish was too busy eyeing the baby oddly, it was the first time he had laid eyes on a new born before. His face scrunched up in, not disgust, but more in confusion.
Why was everyone making such a big deal?
It wasn't until young Alice's eyes landed on him that he noted how everyone must have felt. His heart skipped a beat and his eyes were glued on hers. Being a new born, her emotions were limited, but her eyes showed so much more; such great curiosity. That was the first thing that Hamish truly fell for when he first met the young Alice.
"Isn't she beautiful Hamish?" asked his mother, Lady Ascot, with a quaint smile. Her son simply nodded, his eyes still glued on Alice's. His father walked up to his other side and patted his shoulder happily. The three years old looked up to find so many others looking at him with these looks in their eyes.
It was then that he remembered what his parents had told him on their way to the Kingsley's home.
He was to marry the new born when they were both of age. At first he thought that meant they had to be best friends for the rest of their lives, like him and Maxwell were. However, his parents had cleared up the confusion and told him marriage was when two people promised they would be together forever.
Hamish thought that sounded silly, but his parents seemed to have this glee in their voices when they spoke about it. It was then he figured that if it made his parents happy speaking out it, that meant when he experienced it, it would be beyond miraculous. The young boy nodded eagerly as he understood. He would be-wed the new born when time came and the two would live happily together, forever for the rest of their lives. It seemed so simply that Hamish grew giddy with excitement.
He couldn't wait to marry the pretty little Alice.
