I'm so sorry, I burned the chocolate.

Part of Criminal Minds Weekly Prompts

Prompt : Chocolate , strawberries and wine

Angela was unusually late home tonight. She had decided to stay in work until 5pm to get her marking done ready for her first class tomorrow, but lost track of time. She finally left at 5.45 and then there was traffic. So now, it was 6.30. Usually, she'd be home by 5.30, ready and watching tv by the time her boyfriend got home at 6. She knew he was home because he'd called; being as over-protective as he is and all. The woman rushed into the apartment and pushed the door shut before taking off her shoes and coat. She was directed to the kitchen by a pot-hitting-a-pan noise. Once she arrived at her destination she smiled at what awaited her.

"Happy Valentine's Day!" The BAU agent shouted out to her before rushing to kiss her sweetly, wrapping her in his safe embrace. The table was set with a vase full of red, pink and white roses, a bowl of strawberries beside it. A bottle of her favourite rosé wine sat on the left side of the table; two glasses next to it. Pizza was covering their plates and the two tall yet thin candle flames danced around the wick playfully. It was perfect. "Glad you like it." The agent answered, kissing her on the nose before laughing lightly. He sat her down gently on the table; pulling the chair out for her. She didn't think it could get better than this – he was the perfect gentleman to her; always. None of her ex-boyfriends had ever treated her as well as he did. That's why she didn't mind that he had to go away a lot: he always made it up to her. There wasn't a day that went by that she didn't thank God for sending such a perfect man to her. He constantly complimented her and gave her his undivided attention when they were together. He loved her and she loved him and that was all that mattered.

"Thank you." She replied sincerely. "I would have been home earlier if I could. Sorry for making you wait." He brushed the comment off as he poured the wine for the both of them. "Shame you don't have the tux to match, I don't think your pj's count as 'romantic' especially considering you had it down until I saw your attire." She mocked lightly.

He just smirked, "what, didn't you say you liked to see me walk around without my top. I wouldn't want to disappoint you. But I guess I'll go change if that's what you really want." He had begun to walk off before she grabbed his wrist, pulled him back and caught him in a kiss.

"No, it's ok." Unfortunately, there kiss ended too soon as they realised something was burning and after some cursing and rushing around, her, now upset boyfriend, declared that he had burned the chocolate that he had melted specifically for the strawberries.

"I'm so sorry, I burned the chocolate." He told her, more in a self-scolding tone, whilst shaking his head. " I should've kept a better eye on it. Or remembered, or something." His eyes were full of apologies and failure. Angela kissed him softly and hugged him.

"It's ok. This was enough. It's great and anyway it's the thought that counts." His crestfallen face was enough to make her heart melt. "Look, how about I go get changed and we can move this stuff into the living room, cuddle and watch some tv? We could watch Valentine's Day – I do love that film!" The man couldn't resist her excitement and was forced to smile and agree. He'd found out that he would do pretty much anything for her if she asked, he was completely and utterly in love with her.

Isn't the best thing I've ever written, and it's pointless and gibberish but I've just revised some so my head's wrecked. I decided not to name the boyfriend to keep it open so it's a kinds 'insert name here' thing. Sorry.

Thanks for reading though – I appreciate it
