They were standing on mead, looking at each other. The demon's voice could be heard in the air, but it couldn't be seen. It was in the air, everywhere.

"Sango." He said quietly. "Wake up already."

Her eyes saw nothing. She was completely under the demon's control. He knew how that battle would end, that's what the demon had said: only one of them could survive.

"Suffer!" Roared the demon's voice. "If you value your life you should kill that woman!"

Miroku turned towards the voice, without seeing anything. He wouldn't kill Sango no matter what! When he turned back, she was attacking him.

"Sango snap out of it!" He yelled, trying to jink the blows of her boomerang.

"Die!" She just continued saying, with not her own voice.

"Sango! You don't have to do this! Wake up!" He tried, for nothing.

She suddenly drew her sword and hit him. He noticed it just a little too late and the sword hit him onto his right side. He yelled in pain and heard the demon laughing.

"Yes! Kill each other!" The demon laughed cruelly.

It had happened just an hour ago. He had waked up because he had heard someone walking. Then he had seen her, walking towards the mead they had gone through last day.

"What the…" He had whispered and stood up, without waking up Inuyasha and Kagome.

Sango had walked fast and disappeared among the trees, and then Miroku had arrived into the mead. She had been standing there, her boomerang ready and wearing her exterminator suit.

Then he had heard the demon speaking first time and noticed her eyes. She had been looking at him with hatred, her eyes no-seeing.

"We've been waiting for you." The demon had said.

"What did you do for her?" He had yelled.

"Nothing, I just gave all her jealously and hatred towards you to her mind." Demon had answered.

"Jealously and hatred?"

"All the times you chase other women. And then I just had to take her under my control."

Miroku had looked at her. She was standing there and waiting for something. He had felt that something very bad was going to happen.

"So she won't listen to me now?" He had asked.

"No. She only obeys me." The demon had answered.

Miroku couldn't have seen he demon. It had been invisible or something, he had never got to know it. He only knew that he had to do something.

And then, the demon had made her attack. It wanted them to fight until only one of them would stand there alive. It was the demon who played with human's minds.

'At this rate this battle will never end.' He thought while dodging her blows.

"Sango! Remember all the times we fought together, remember all our happy moments and wake up! I beg you, snap out of it!" He yelled, but only got a new wound onto his arm.

The battle continued. Miroku didn't hurt Sango. Sango hurt Miroku badly. The demon laughed where ever it was, and finally they two stood there ready for the final blow.

"I'm not ready to die yet. But if it saves Sango… and however, my Kazaana would have killed me someday…" He thought, looking at his right hand. Then he looked at her again.

"I won't fight you Sango. You have to live and help the others." Miroku yelled to her.

She attacked again, but this time he didn't step aside. He yelled in pain when her sword went through his chest, and then he fell onto the ground. The pound of blood slowly started to grow around him.

Sango's eyes turned normal again. She looked at her sword with horror, then at Miroku. Tears filled her eyes as she kneeled next to him.

"Oh Miroku-sama! I didn't mean to do it!" She cried.

The demon laughed. "So that foolish human chose death to save his love! How pitiful!"

"Miroku-sama! Answer me, tell me that you're okay!" She cried, trying to wake him up.

But he was already gone. He had given his life for her. And she cried, cried until the sun rose again.
