A/N: Guys, I've never written mystery stories before, so I'd appreciate your advice.
"Don't you walk away from me!"
"Please...leave me."
"Not until you explain to me what on earth you were thinking!"
"There's nothing to explain...it's all over...and you must leave."
"I'm carrying your child!"
"...I know..."
"And you love me...not her."
"...I know..."
"And yet you choose her over me?"
"I had to."
"You didn't have to do anything!"
The intensity of this dream was too much for Morgana. Her waking up was so abrupt that she practically jumped out of her four poster bed, onto the cold, hard floor. Morgana's breathing was rapid and irregular as she lit the lantern beside her bed and wiped the cool sheen of sweat from her elegant brow. Slowly and very cautiously, she lifted herself to a standing position and realised that this had been a nightmare.
A nightmare that had been so...real.
She did not recognise either of the voices from the nightmare. She hadn't even seen their faces. Obviously they'd been arguing...but why? And why had it been so cryptic?
Gingerly lifting the lantern from her bedside, Morgana did not bother to dress appropriately, for it was the middle of the night and it was likely that no one would see her in her discomposed state. Quietly lifting the door ajar with her free hand, Morgana knew that it was Gaius that she needed to see.
Minutes later, she'd found him, rousing him from his deep sleep. He'd groggily agreed to make her a sleeping drought in the morning, but for the moment, she should try to sleep. Aware that this was for his benefit as much as her own, Morgana thanked him and returned to her chambers.
Somehow, she thought as she attempted to return to her slumber, she knew that this dream meant something. Gaius obviously thought that it was an ordinary nightmare, but it wasn't. Morgana had never had a nightmare that seemed so plausible.
But it was as plausible as it was mysterious. She knew nothing about the two arguing characters, and at the same time she felt as if she knew everything about them. One of the voices had even been slightly familiar...
But this was unintelligent, was it not? Morgana was acting as if the dream were real, when clearly her mind had concocted this brilliant piece of nonsense.
It was nonsense...wasn't it?
So, that was it. It'll get longer...promise. Leave your advice and comments in the reviews section.
