Tyler trudged through the Wind Temple's main hall's top floor angrily. Of all the the koroks, in all of the world, he had to get stuck with Makar.
"I hate you, Makar," Tyler reminded Makar.
"I know," Makar responded back, sadly. He sat atop Tyler's shoulder, tuning his violin.
Suddenly, a floormaster reached from under the ground and attacked Tyler, he was barely able to block the attack with his sword.
"Makar!" Tyler said while stabbing the floormaster, ending its pathetic life, "why didn't you warn me about the floormaster?" Tyler yelled.
"I didn't see it," Makar said meekly.
"Well pay attention! You know how I hate floormasters! And it's not like you're doing anything useful up there on my shoulder, the least you could do is actually look around! You're so useless!" Makar was teary eyed at this point, he was sick of Tyler's constant barrage of insults. He wanted to be friends with Tyler, maybe even something more, but Tyler would always be so rude to him. Makar didn't know why, Tyler had seemed friendly before, but for some reason he wasn't as nice as Makar thought he would be.
"Fine! If you really think I'm so useless, then I'll just leave!" Makar yelled back.
"Good! I'm sick of you! You'll probably die without me," Tyler said. Makar jumped off of Tyler's shoulder and flew down to the lowest floor of the room. Tyler turned away from Makar and began to walk away. He was just about to go through a door when he heard Makar scream. "Good, he'll be dead soon." Tyler felt a sudden weight in his heart, as if he didn't believe the words coming from his own lips. Before he could even think, he jumped down towards the sound of Makar's scream. He saw a darknut about to kill Makar with his sword, and moved his flight to block the attack...
With his body.
While being attacked, Tyler threw his sword, which stabbed through the darknut's head, killing it. The darknut fell backwards, away from Tyler and Makar.
"Tyler! Are you okay?" Makar asked. He inspected Tyler's wound. It was deep, and covered in blood.
"M...Makar," Tyler said weakly.
"I'll go get some other koroks, they can help!" Makar said.
"It's too late for me... The cut's too deep. Don't bother getting help. I'm... I'm sorry, Makar. No matter what I said, I love you. I always have, I just didn't know how to express it. I'm sorry... I didn't mean for it to end this way..." Tyler trailed off.
"Tyler..." Makar said, tears falling from his face, "You're not going to die. I... I love you too."
Tyler pulled Makar in and kissed him. The kiss lasted around half a minute, stopped by Makar's pulling away. When he realized he was kissing a dead body.
