Ok so some of you seemed to like my last attempt with this pairing so here's another for you. Be warned though it's not exactly the fluff you read in life's blessings...

A life Without Her

They had never asked for it to begin, it was just one of those things that slowly developed over time. A few looks here and there along with the odd brushing of hands in the elevator sparked something within them both. Then all it took was a single lone night and they found themselves spiralling into the abyss, lost within one another. Looking back it was everything she had ever desired in a relationship; passion, desire, intimacy and above all else love. But as she knew all too well in life, all good things must to come and end and they had made the choice, the choice to let one another go. However, what she hadn't expected was to feel so much grief. There was a hole in her world where the woman had been and now when left with her thoughts on these long desolate nights, she had no choice but to fall right in and be swallowed by the darkness. Looking into the mirror all she could see was an empty reflection; a stranger staring back, a stranger who was left trying to reconcile oneself to a choice that had been taken and the impact it had had on their life.

"Shhh," Miranda whispered into her neck with soft kisses. "Listen to me darling. This is how it will be, you will have a life. I want you to have a life."

"It is no life all at without you in it."

"Nonsense Andrea, I am merely just a small part of it. You will look back in years to come and realise that what I am saying is true."

The younger woman turned to look at her love, the light casting a soft glow around them

"For once you will be proven wrong." Miranda arched her eyebrow but remained silent, Andrea on the other hand let out a small sigh.

"I know that what we're doing is right but still the thought of not seeing you…Please Miranda just always be near me so I can at least see you."

The pain from their parting seemed to be never ending, a constant ache within. The memory of it seared in her mind for eternity, she wished for just one more moment, one more moment where she could have her in her arms, feel the softness of lips caressing her skin as she gave into the touch that would bring her to the point of ecstasy. Instead she was left with sporadic glimpses, occasional meetings at some function or another where she had to suffice with lingering gazes across a crowded room of people. She couldn't kiss her and hold her and love her anymore…

A life without Andrea in it at all seemed impossible but the reality of what she did have was not lost upon the editor in chief. She was struggling to find a purpose in life; to find the sense of belonging she once had before the life she knew was irrevocably changed for good. Indeed she had her twin girls but they were growing up, becoming their own people each passing day. Soon they would leave and she really would be alone, left with nothing but precious memories and wistful dreams of a love that had consumed her entirely. It was hard to move on and let go completely.

Andrea was the only one who really knew her at all. She had touched her like no other and now she was left to grieve for her loss. Solitude used to be something she craved but after all that had happened she was now wondering how one could endure such loneliness, there had to be something out there that was worth it….

She continued to look at the reflection in the mirror, her thoughts her only company. As the image of the younger woman settled at the forefront of her mind once again, she wiped a single tear away and told herself it was for the best. Anyway in the end, what was the point in crying when there was no one there to comfort you…
