"We on Asgard pretend that we are somehow more advanced, but then we come here battling like bilge snipe."
"Like what?"
"Bilge snipe. You know, huge, scaly, big antlers...You don't have those?"
"I don't think so."
"Well they are repulsive. And they trample everything in their path."

Species Name: Bilge Snipe
Scientific Name: Quenquam Corigaras
Range: Around Asgard
Diet: All manner of plants and animals, from alive and kicking to nearly decayed. This includes other bilge snipe and their eggs.
Description: Between seven and ten feet tall, adult Bilge snipe may weigh anywhere between 2,000 and 4,000 pounds. They have long, muscular, birdlike legs, similar to an ostrich but covered in scales and ending in razor sharp claws. They have long necks and a bird-like beak, with a forked tongue. They do not have teeth, though their beaks are powerful enough to crack bone. Both males and females have thick, branching antlers, which are extremely sharp, and, due to the bacteria ridden habitat they inhabit, a wound inflicted by bilge snipe antlers is likely to become infected and lethal, no matter how minor, meaning they are basically poisonous. They are fully covered in scales, and males may grow considerably larger than females. They have short, ropy tails that end in a bony barb, just a grimy as their antlers and beaks.
Behavior: Bilge snipe live in family groups, and take three years to reach maturity, when the males are kicked out to form their own groups. These males sometimes form all male bands, but will most likely turn on each other at the appearance of a prospective mate. They battle fiercely, like deer, for mates, but with a higher intent to kill. They kill their prey by chasing them down and spearing them with their antlers or tail. They will follow their prey for indefinite amounts of time after they have inflicted a wound, waiting for them to die. They fight a lot among themselves, but only mating squabbles are frequently fatal. They hatch eggs in nests made of mud and reeds, and hunt for the babies until they are old enough to do their own hunting.
Habitat: They live in wet places, and especially favor swamps. They are never far from stagnant water, where there are roots and birds and fish that they can eat. As long as their is food, the water may be fresh or salt. The rotting matter common in such environments contributes to their repulsiveness, giving them the bacteria ridden weapons, and a stench like swamp mud, rotting vegetation and decaying fish.
What to do if you are being chased by one: Run for your life, and holler for Thor.
