PRIMROSES

A flower could only held so much meaning...

Primroses.

The flower marked lots of things in Katniss Everdeen-Mellark's life.

It symbolized Primrose Everdeen, Katniss' little sister. One of the few amount of people whom she loved dearly, and protected with her life. Yet, she was also the person Katniss had failed to safe.

It held her memories in the woods, with Gale, back then when life wasn't so complicated because of the Games. He was her best friend, and the cursed Games tore them apart. And despite everyhting, their relationship would never be quite the same.

It reminded her to the roses at President Snow's greenhouse, which lead to the thought of his reign of evil and tirany. Even the smallest thought of the man made her hands trembled.

But above all, above the sad, depressing memories and symbols of the Primroses, the flower held its new meaning.

"She's beautiful," Peeta breathed, taking their new baby girl from the nurse. "She's perfect, just like you," He kissed Katniss' temple. Just then, the girl wailed, asking for her mother.

"Hey, hey, ssh..." Peeta soothed her, and handed the baby to Katniss. The new mother smiled at her new child. The girl's eyes—beautiful blue, like Peeta's—was looking directly at her, thus made her heart flutter.

When Katniss held her little girl close, she saw hopes and dreams, a start of a new life. She saw a miracle, a magical event that healed a big part of her.

"What should we name her?" Peeta asked smoothly. Katniss only stared at their baby for a moment, unable to answer. But when their baby girl smiled, she noticed that it was exactly like Prim's. And she decided,

"Primrose." She whispered. "Primrose Rue Mellark."

The next morning, all of the Primroses on their meadow blossomed.
