Santana had been distant lately. Quinn didn't like it at all. In fact, she hated it. Santana was staying out late, and coming home early in the morning. If Quinn tried to talk to her she'd just claim that she was tired and go to bed with out another word. It had Quinn worried. After all what would you do if your girlfriend wouldn't have anything to do with you?
Santana and Quinn had been dating for about five years now, and were engaged. They got together their freshmen year in college after hooking up at Will and Emma's wedding disaster. They had a strong relationship, but it hadn't always been that way. Quinn had never dated a girl before, and Santana had only dated Brittany. They had a hard time with setting bondaries. Sometimes Santana wouldn't want to hold Quinn's hand in public, especially when they visited Lima. Other times Quinn wouldn't even associate herself with Santana, if they were at an event or if she was with her snobby "friends" from Yale. The couple fought a lot before they finally sat down and stated their issues, eventually, PDA wasn't a probably for them. After they graduated College, they moved in together and Quinn proposed. Santana said yes of course and after that they were happy, and free to be themselves, until now.
Santana had come home around four in the morning, and Quinn was up waiting for her. She had her bags packed, and her ring was on the table. Santana was shocked and took one look at her, before saying the first words she's said to Quinn in months. "Quinn, Where are you going?"
"You know, I shouldn't even bother telling you, since you can't bother to tell me where you've been going this past month."
"I'm not cheating on you if that's what you're thinking." The Latina sighed.
"Well what are you doing? I'm not even sure if I believe that. You've been staying out late, and coming home at these crazy hours, and not even bothering to talk to me."
"I've just been out."
"Out where?"
"Sit down. I need to explain."
Quinn didn't bother with arguing, she could tell by the look in Santana's eyes that she had something important to tell her, and that it wasn't going to be easy for her to do. Quinn sat, so did Santana.
"I've been driving up to see my Abuela, Abuelo was in an accident, and he's okay but he needs help with just about everything. He can't walk. Abuela won't even look at him. She's still in shock. She almost lost him Quinn, and now she's watching him struggle and there's nothing she can do. She's lost in herself, and Abuelo can't pull her out of it. She's not taking care of herself Q. So I've been going and helping them both." Santana looked at Quinn to see how she was processing this. Santana's Abuelos loved Quinn, they always had, and when they started dating they already accepted Quinn as their own.
Quinn just looked at Santana and thought about what she had been told. She wasn't sure what to feel or to think, so she just asked one question. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Babe, don't get upset, but I didn't tell you because I knew how hard things have been for you and I didn't want you to worry too much, like you usually do."
"So instead of worrying about the abuelos, you decided to let me worry about my relationship? I thought you didn't want me anymore." Quinn looked down.
"What? That's crazy. I always want you. I don't want anyone else. You are the love of my life, and I don't know what I'd do with out you. I should have told you."
"Yes, you should have. Now go to bed and get some rest, we're driving up there and we're going to take care of Abuela and Abuelo. Okay Baby?"
Santana nodded and gave her fiancee a smile that she hadn't seen in a while. "Okay"
"I love you."
"I love you too, so much" She said as she kissed Quinn and went to bed.
