He walked and walked.
He kept his eyes fixed in front of his steps, where the shoes sank a little in the marshy water not making a noise.
The uninterrupted and pulsing pounding in his ears – metallic screams and screeches of fingernails - that kept him awoken at night and made him wander as a zombie during the day, stopped; it was swallowed by that smoky oblivion that choked his madness, too.
There was silence in his soul.
There was emptiness in his memory.
He'd chosen.
The landscape all around was dull, colorless and fuzzy like a mixed watercolor on a sheet of paper; into the fog, he saw a tiny figurine that seemed to be stylized in charcoal.
She looked at him and waited - in the middle of water, in the midst of nothing, - for him to say something.
The head, so wonderfully clear from every scream and thought.
«I was looking for you»
«I was waiting for you»
It was the only place he wanted to go.
She was the only person he wanted to see.
Medusa held out her hand, but Stein was aware that this time she wasn't an illusion.
She was real, with her bones, her skin and her small fingers closed around his wrist. He could feel the texture, the warmth against the skin.
She was his, finally.
«Now, everything' ll be alright» Medusa whispered softly.
And he believed her.
Wow! My first story in this site... I'm a bit nervous. I wrote this drabble - my first attempt to write a Soul Eater story, - right after I watched episode 41, long time ago. Oh my, Medusa's simply the most wonderful character of the whole anime, why she's so despised? She and Stein are perfect to each other... This pairing's definitely my OTP. Oh, right, one last thing: English isn't my mother language and, even if I used my dearest Snjeg as a betareader for this story, maybe I made some mistakes. Please, tell me if you notice them.
