Silver and Gold

Golden and maroon, silver and green. Two scarves entwined and hung on a shelf in the library. One set of robes duelling the other, airborne, during Quidditch. Both seekers, both fifth-years. One brunette with shiny, bottomless blue eyes; the other, a stunning blonde with eyes as grey as a gloomy sky. Hating to hate, loving to love.

'Do you think there's a chance your old man would be okay with us, Scor?'

He only laughed, the throaty sound setting fire to Albus' cheeks.

'Impossible. Not in a million years, Potter. Although,' he added hastily at Albus' crestfallen face. 'If I tried convincing him instead of letting him find out on his own, there's a better chance at him not blowing something up. Plus mum's brilliant, she already knows and dad never fails to fall for her charm.'

The last bit had gotten the dark-haired boy interested, and he leaned in closer to Scorpius' blonde head. 'Your mum knows,' he whispered against the blonde's lips, and he shivered deliciously.

'Madam Pince will throw us out, and then where could I possibly seduce you?' he winked as he whispered back against Albus' lips, his soft breath causing gooseflesh to prickle all over Albus' hands.

'Shut up, Scor,' he whispered roughly as he silenced him with his lips.

'And the Slytherins win the first match of this year's Quidditch season with Seeker Scorpius Malfoy nearly blinding Gryffindor Keeper James Potter as he grabbed the snitch!'

Golden billowing against green. The winds distorting voices until cheers and sniggers, booing and screaming all sounded the same, half happy and half sad. A cold hand covered in a dark grey glove tugged on a maroon hem.

'Congratulations, Slytherin.'

'Don't call me that, Gryffindor.

'Okay, Malfoy.'

'Jealous are we?'

'Only a little.'

'I'd kiss your jealousy away if it wasn't this funny. And cute.'

'Your face is cute.'

'Oh, I know.'

'Shut up!'

Scorpius only pecked Albus on the lips in return, and he huffed.

'By the way, Potter, yellow is definitely your colour.'

'They're golden!'

'Stop trying to be all fancy.'

'Hey Albus?'

'Hmm?'

'I love you.'

And he was gone, just like that, swallowed up by a green green sea on a grey grey day.

'Albus, you've got to stop hiding. He's your brother, just talk to him already!'

'I'd rather spend all day kissing you instead.'

Scorpius pushed Albus away from him as he tried to kiss him and ended up having Albus roll all over him, disrupting the coherence of his thoughts. So he just lay down by Albus in the shade of the everglades by the lake, placing his cool hand over Albus' flushed one.

'I want to be with you, Albus Severus, I really do.'

'And I do too, Malfoy, regardless of our parents' past.'

'So stop being a git and talk to your brother, first.'

'He isn't a parent.'

'He's still your family, Potter; one that I'd like to be a part of someday.'

And with a sweeping kiss, he melted into the murky emerald shadows.
