This time, this place, misused, mistakes. Too long, to wait, who was I to make you wait?

Evie stood at her bedroom window, clutching onto her necklace. Around that necklace was the ring that Steve had given her before he left, and that was a year ago. She had not received a letter saying that he had died, so she felt pretty good, but there was something still missing…but what?

I love you; I've loved you all along. And I miss you, been far away for far too long.

"Evie! Come down here right now!" Her mother called, sounding angry. Before she went downstairs, she prayed.

On my knees, I'll ask, last chance for one last dance.

"Please, let Steve come home, safe and unharmed. Thank you, Amen." She ran downstairs before her mom got mad.

I'd give it all, I'd give for us. Give anything, but I won't give up.

"Yes, Mother. What is it?"

"There's a surprise for you…" She motioned her hand to the doorway. Evie's heart jumped when she saw who it was.

"Steve!"

I wanted, I wanted you to stay. 'Cuz I needed, I need to hear you say,

She jumped into his arms, and they hugged for what seemed like hours rather then seconds.

"I love you." He whispered in her ear.

"I've loved you all along." She whispered back.

So keep breathing, 'Cause I'm not leaving you anymore, believe it, hold onto me never let me go.

"I would've died if you did." She said, still hugging him, as if for dear life.

"I tried not to, babe. I tried not to." He said in response.

Keep breathing, hold onto me, and never let me go…
