Question: What do you do when you already have a chapter story that you're kinda struggling to get going and meant to have the first chapter posted on Halloween?
Answer: You decide to do a 31 day challenge where you write for a different prompt everyday!
Yeah, my friend told me she was doing this challenge for the month of December and I instantly agreed to do it with her without any thought about how hard and stressful it was going to be. But I've never been one to turn down a challenge, so I'm gonna do this, post the first two chapters of that chapter story, study for my finals, pass my finals, and celebrate Christmas all in this one month. Cool.
Sidenote: I'm not doing the same fandom everyday cause I don't want to groud myself to one fandom for a whole month, so there's that.
Also sidenote: This takes place during like their first winter after going up to the surface. Please enjoy!
Today's Prompt: "I can't believe it's already snowing."
Disclaimer: I don't own TMNT.
Donnie is usually pretty calm. He doesn't like getting mad. He's often times the peacekeeper between his brothers. Maybe this is why whenever he does get mad, he's as loud and explosive as he can get. Maybe the thing he's angry about doesn't deserve the amount of anger he's giving it, but he's also probably just disposing any pent up anger he has from living with 3 brothers.
But whatever the reason, he doesn't think it's possible to be as upset as he is. What is he so mad at you may ask?
The snow.
Now, being cold blooded turtles in New York in winter has never been fun. Whenever April would complain about being cold, they would all just give her an annoyed look that says, "You think you're cold?" She's learned to stop complaining while she's hanging out with them.
Patrol during the winter months is going to be brutal. They all knew this. Not only would they be cold, but the rooftops were going to be icy and slippery, the white snow was going to make it hard to blend in and hide in the shadows, and sometimes the sewer plates would freeze shut and they would have to pry them open.
Donnie has been working for weeks on trying to make sure they're warm while they're on patrol. They all had thick XL coats that would fit around their shells and keep them warm, but if they go out on patrol in them, the coats were going to restrict their movements. They also had cloaks, which were looser and way easier to move in, but they would not be warm, so at the beginning of November when the fall weather was slowly, but steadily, starting to get colder, he started working on these devices to put in their cloaks that would keep them warm. They were about the size of their T-Phones and would be sewn into the cloaks. He'd predicted that he'd have them done within the first few days of December before the snow started, but unfortunately, the snow came earlier than they predicted.
Now Donnie is finishing putting the small device in the third cloak. Only one more to go after this one. He is so close to getting them done and is rushing because he doesn't want to spend another night freezing on patrol anymore than his brothers.
"Donnie, we're leaving for patrol in 15 minutes! How are those cloaks coming along?" Leo's voice echoes as the commanding tone came from the living room. Donnie sighs as he stops his work for a moment to breath and mutter to himself under his breath.
"I can't believe it's already snowing."
"Donnie!"
"They're almost done! Just give me 10 minutes!"
There's Day 1! I'm excited for this month as much as I am scared that I'm going to disappoint myself. We'll see how this month goes. Wish me luck!
