Carpe Diem
The heavens were blue, blue, blue today. Sunlight filtered through the boughs of their favourite tree, the excess spilling across the lawn in scintillating, ever-changing patterns. A gentle breeze whispered through the garden, carrying traces of freshly cut grass and hazy memories of distant days.
The boy's gaze flew over the sight, in his eyes a dancing spark that could rival the sun itself in its intensity.
He sprung to his feet from his place underneath the old oak, taking in a lungful of warm summer air.
"Do you smell that, Ferb? That smells to me like the start of a new day! You, me, Perry, and a full summer day ahead of us- what could be better? And I have a feeling that this one'll be the best one yet!"
The sides of his companion's lips twitched ever so slightly upwards. Phineas said that every day.
"No, really. I mean it this time. So we can't waste a moment, oh brother of mine! Go ahead; tell me what you wanna do today!"
A grin stretched from one side of his face to the other, only widening further when he heard the familiar phrase trilled from across the garden.
"Hi guys, what'cha doin'?" The gate swung shut behind their friend, who ambled over to the two of them in long strides, her jet black hair swishing after her. Phineas did a remarkably speedy 180 to face her, his eyes lighting up even brighter.
And her eyes were shining too.
"Hey Isabella! We were just gonna figure out another way to seize the day."
"Oh, okay. Can I help?"
Something clicked.
"Yes. Yes you can," Phineas said slowly, mind running through plans aplenty for the day before deciding that they all paled in comparison to this one.
He seized her shoulders under surprisingly strong hands, inducing a blush to colour Isabella's cheeks a deep pink as she looked up uncertainly at him.
"Trust me, this was a long time coming," he said, and crushed her lips against his.
It lasted barely a second; a second of bliss, yes, but only a second. By the time the initial shock wore off Isabella, Phineas was pulling away triumphantly.
She wasn't having it. "No way," she growled, cheeks flushed. "I've been waiting 10 years for this. You're giving me more than that, Phineas Flynn!"
Her hand instinctively furled into a fist around the material of his shirt, leaving no time for him to realise what what happening before she tugged him forcefully towards her. Their lips connected for a second time, this time to last.
They melded into each other, eyes sliding shut, limbs intertwining. Phineas only broke lip contact to murmur "You taste delicious," before ducking his head to kiss her again.
Perhaps if they'd been a little less engrossed in each other, and a little more in the world around them, they would've heard the exceptionally rare sound of Ferb chuckling. The forgotten Brit, from his spot underneath the old tree, watched with mirthful eyes as his best friends made out, his whole body convulsing with laughter.
"Carpe diem indeed," he choked out, to no one in particular. "It was about time."
This one was short, but hopefully sweet! Hope you enjoyed!
