Disclaimer: I sadly don't own Sanctuary or the characters…or anything else.

Author note: In this story Ashley is still alive and has a little sister named Ainslie….Nikola is the father of Ainslie. He has also been living at the sanctuary for a week.

Ainslie crept silently down the hallway, tiptoeing so no one knew she was still home. Ashley, Will, and Henry were mission to track an abnormal in China. Ainslie was supposed to be going with them but they wanted someone to stay and watch over Helen. Ainslie was the only one of her friends and sister who trusted Nikola but Ainslie didn't say so or they would have never let her stay.

At the moment she had lost her mom and was cursing at herself for losing her in such a big house.

She turned the corner too quickly and saw Helen talking to Nikola. Ainslie muffled a gasp and retreated to a safer position. She listened closer feeling lucky to have her dad's vampire hearing.

"Please Helen the children have left and I'm rather bored" Nikola tried to grab Helen's small waist but she dodged him and took a step back.

Ainslie almost laughed. Nikola was so persistent but her mother constantly refused something Ainslie knew she wanted.

"Not know Nikola please." Helen almost begged and Helen never begged.

"I know you want to kiss me Helen." Nikola stroked her hair as Helen looked down at her feet shyly like a little schoolgirl.

Ainslie peeked around the corner just in time her mother's head slowly lift up and kiss Nikola softly on the lips.

Ainslie squealed silently with delight. She knew if Will, Henry or Ashley were there they wouldn't have let them get this far.

Nikola was the first to pull away from the kiss.

"Really, you try to get me to kiss you for days and now you pull away from me?" Helen looked hurt.

"No, it's not that at all but it is…" His voice trailed off and he walked towards the corner. "This cheeky little bugger" Nikola finished his sentence. As he did he took Ainslie by the arm and pulled her in front of Helen.

Ainslie watched her mother's face turn angry. Then she surprised Ainslie by letting out a soft laugh. Helen reached out to her youngest child and pulled her into a tight hug. Ainslie closed her eyes and breathed in her mother's sweet scent.

"I'm truly sorry I interrupted you and Nikola's kiss" Ainslie said.

"Don't be. There's always plenty of time for that later. We don't always get the opportunity to hang out as a family so let's enjoy the time we have." Helen pulled Nikola into the hug.

They hugged and laughed until they all decided they were hungry and to have a picnic on the Sanctuary lawn.
