Casey was already in bed when Ciel finally came in, freshly washed and overly exhausted. Like every other day, he avoided her - he didn't want to admit that he had fallen in love with her. This marriage was arranged, Ciel had to tell himself, and he had to focus on his work, as well as keep his demonic butler a secret from her.

When she heard him enter the room, her eyes slowly opened, revealing beautiful, yet dull and dejected emerald orbs. This sent a pang to his heart. He didn't want to do this, and yet, he kept his poker face on and avoided her melancholy gaze.

Ciel laid himself on the large bed and pulled the covers over himself, yet he couldn't sleep. Like every other night, they were on their respective sides even though he wanted nothing more than to scoop her up in his arms and hold her tight. Hearing Casey's soft, deep breathing, he knew that she had drifted to sleep already. Finally, not able to take it anymore, the boy turned back around and faced her. Even though they weren't really far away from each other, he still found their bodies too separated for his liking.

Hesitantly, even though he had wanted to do this for a long time, Ciel placed his arms around her and pulled her to his chest, stroking her long dirty-blond hair. Even asleep, Casey unconsciously snuggled closer to him, wrapping her arms around him as well. And for the first time in a long time, he saw a smile grace her face as she slept.

Extended ending:

The following morning, Casey woke first. Usually, Ciel would be out of bed by now, but since Sebastian caught them so happily cuddled up with each other, he merely smirked and decided to leave his young master alone (for now). When the girl woke up, she pressed closer to the warm body next to her, closing her eyes again. However, they soon shot open and realized that this was Ciel holding her. A heavy blush dusted her cheeks, and she tried to scoot away from him, but Ciel simply held her tighter.

A low, husky chuckle sounded from him. "Really? Are you that eager to leave?" Green orbs met cerulean ones, and a darker hue of crimson overtook her fair skin. Casey saw a small, genuine smile form on his lips, and she resigned.

Sinking into Ciel's embrace, the girl muttered, "I think I might melt."

"Then melt, sweetheart, so you'll have to stay and cuddle with me for the rest of the day."

Suddenly, Sebastian popped up out of nowhere. "Oh, no you're not, young master," he said, just as Casey snorted, "That was so cheesy."

"SEBASTIAN! CASEY! YOU RUINED THE MOMENT!"
