Breathe For Yourself

Hey guys! Welcome to my new fanfic! As you all know, High School Musical doesn't belong to me. The only things that are mine is the story and my own characters.
Now that I got that out, enjoy the story!

Chapter 1: A Smile Gone

A moment and a breath. Tears was uncontrolled as words ringed in her ears. Horror thoughts run through her mind and images repeated. The young girl cried her sorrow. Screams loud enough to be heard from the other side of the door was the main source to the girl's pain. Soon it was toned down, but was followed by the sound of slamming doors.

Then came a soft knock on her door and a soft murmur of her name. "Sharpay?"

It was her mother. Slowing she got up from her crouch by the door. "Come in." Her weak voice managed to get out. Her mother came in and saw the poor thing. She quickly embraced her and settle down on the bed. "Oh, honey."

"What happened between daddy and Ryan?" Sharpay asked. She looked up at her mother's face. Her mother's face the same as hers, streaked with tears.

She looked hesitated to tell her daughter of the horrid events, but decide it was the best to tell the truth. Sharpay got impatient with her mother's indecisive mood. As her mother was about to say something, her name was called from down the hall. "Darby!"

It was her father. Her mother got up, while Sharpay was reludant for her to go as she was scaried that she will leave her like Ryan. Sharpay held a tight grip on to her mother's wrist.

"It's ok Sharpay. I'll be back after I'm done with your father."

After hearing her mother's reassurance Sharpay let go. Fearfully, she watched as her mother disappear out the door. Sharpay waited for her mother. From time to time she heard screams of her parents. She wondered what was going on. She felt helpless and small for the first time in her life. Upon deciding to go and find out what was going on, she open to door, but was startled with her mother in front of her. Sharpay grew worried as she saw her mother's face. She looked worse than before she left. "Mom?"

Without a warning her mother broke down in tears. This got Sharpay even more worried. "Mom? What's going on?"

"Sharpay, I'm so sorry." Her mom cried.

"What is it?" Sharpay hugged her.

"Your dad and I... We're getting a divorce." Suddenly Sharpay frozed. Divorce? What? How? Sharpay felt as if she couldn't breathe. Does life have to be so unfair to her? First something goes on with Ryan and now her parents are getting a divorce. The more she thought about it, the more her head hurt. Everything felt light and her sight became a blur. The last thing she remember was her mom calling her name.

Sunlight blazed through Sharpay's room, waking the blonde up. The first she heard was the last thing she remember. She turned away from her mom and more memories of last night flooded back into her mind. "Go away, mom. I'm in no mood to talk to you."

"Breakfast is downstair if you want any." My mother sighed, but Sharpay didn't reply.

The whole day Sharpay stayed in her room. She need time to think things through. She knew she shouldn't blame her mom for everything that have had happened, but she just couldn't control her anger. Maybe it was her father who she was angry at since he is the main cause of all these problems. Around seven o'clock Sharpay decided to leave her room. Since skipping breakfast and lunch, she now could eat a horse. Luckily for Sharpay, her mother had just made dinner.

A look of relief flooded Mrs. Evan's face as she saw Sharpay. "Oh, Sharpay." She embraced Sharpay in a hug.

"I'm sorry." Sharpay hugged back.

"It's ok, honey. Everything will be all right."
