Small note: this is slightly AU. In "I See London . . ." I wondered if Maddie was reexamining her opinions of death because she had just lost a child; however, there was no imagery of this in the dream. I wondered if it was because ABC/the writers/whomever didn't want to go down such maudlin roads in a comic sequence. They could have done something subtle, I thought, like a rattle on a desk. . . .

Sword & Shield

1.

Ghastly funeral dream
Rattle on the desk
Afraid:
Death-clenched life.
All she knows
thinks
fears is
Her pain
loss
Loss of him
"What kind of God . . ."

But he . . .
Two rattles on his desk
"There's been a miscarriage of justice!"
Gotta believe it'll be ok.

2.

"There's been a miscarriage of justice!"

Eight long months.
A lifetime -- his lifetime.
Eight months of hope
anger
betrayal
confusion
lost trust
Love.

The baby who would save a marriage
a show
an agency.

If only . . .
Lay it down, sword--
David
-- and shield
Maddie.

The mouth of the wolf was the end of their world!
(Damn fangy, swishy-tailed anger)

Plink! The world down a coin slot;
World for a soda (labeled ABC)
Fairness . . .
