As you might know, if you've seen my profile, I have two obsessions. Ghost Whisperer and Sweeney Todd
So, to challenge myself, now whenever I write a one-shot or drabble for one of them, I'm trying to write one for the other obsession with the same topic.
Does that make sense?
Anyway, pacing came up and here is my Ghost Whisperer one, if you'd like to read the Sweeney Todd one too, of course, it's on my profile. =)
Pacing- Ghost Whisperer
Jim got out of the fancy red jeep that Melinda had actually let him drive for once. She had only let him use her baby to run a quick errand for her while she helped Aiden with some homework.
"Jim, babe. Run this to Eli in his office real quick for me, will yah?"
And Jim, being, well, Jim, happily agreed, taking the papers and heading out the door so he could be back home soon.
Now walking down the hallway to Eli's office, he fingered through the paper. Old... birth records, death records... ghost stuff
He stopped when he got to the psychiatrists office and could see in the door's window.
Jim could see Eli inside the office. He was across the room, with this fingers threaded behind his head and his elbows far out to each side in a stressed out way. And he was just… pacing. Back and forth, back and forth. His face looking anxious, almost angry, and Jim could tell he was talking, even though he couldn't hear the words through the door.
Jim pulled his brows together and just watched Eli pace back and forth around the room, chatting to what seemed like air.
Finally, the man stopped his striding and sat in his office chair, and Jim knocked.
Eli motioned for him to come in and Jim opened the door and let himself in the room.
"Hey, Melinda told me you were coming to bring the files. Thanks," He said with a grin, not getting up but reaching out his hand for the papers. Jim walked over and handed the papers to him.
Curiosity getting to him, Jim asked, "Uh, Eli? Why were you just…" He motioned his hand back and forth across the room. "Pacing?"
"Oh," Eli sighed. He sat forward in the chair and folded his hands in front of him. He lowered his voice to a whisper, as if adding emphasis to the story.
"You see, there was a ghost in here,"
Ah, Jim figured he could of guessed that.
"And, I'm not really sure, cause I couldn't see him, but I think he was playing games with me and was switching places in the room…" He pointed to a corner "From there…" Then to the other. "To there. And back again." He looked at Jim in the eyes, very serious. "He was whispering, so I couldn't really hear him unless I was by him. Hence the pacing."
Jim didn't close his mouth or straighten out his brow, he just nodded.
"Unless, there was two of them…" Eli mumbled, looking down.
"That's nice, night Eli," Jim said with a wave.
Eli hardly heard his friend as he left and shut the door. "Yeah…that would explain why he was arguing with himself…"
Thanks for reading, and if you have any challenges for me to write about, leave it along with your review, I might use it and it will be appreciated!
Lots of Love!
