Awakening
Power. Such a simple word given so many meaning whether good or bad it carries a heavy meaning.
Elena Gilbert knew that she had a gift. She knew that she had a unique ability. She has it in spades but it wasn't until just 2 weeks after her 12th birthday that she learned that she had true Power. The day wasn't special in any way. It wasn't too hot or too cold, the sun wasn't shining brightly as she skipped through a field of flowers.
There was no tragedy that woke it. She had just been playing with her little gift, plucking petals from flower without actually touching them. That's how it started.
She was able to do small thing with her mind at first: moving pencils in class, making a glass on the other side of the table come to her, stopping something that was about to fall on her, maybe even make the chair her aunts boyfriend was about to sit in slide out the causing him to fall on his butt. Little. Fun. Then it changed there was no warning, she had just gotten out of school and was supposed to play go to The Mystic Falls with Bonnie and Caroline her best friends. Her parents knew and since nothing ever happened in her town of Mystic Falls they let her go. When she got there she got a text from Bonnie telling her that Caroline had gotten into another fight with some older girl who had spoken badly about her father being a newly out homosexual and was in need of medical attention but that she was okay. Elena could never understand what people had against gay people it's not like they have to be gay to. People should just accept others the way they came. Knowing Caroline would be taken care of she had decided to sit at The Falls alone.
Thus the flower petal mind picking.
That was when she felt it.
A rushing surge of Power. PURE POWER. It was as if she was drowning in it. The feeling was suffocating. She felt it then, a pull in her mind as if something unlocked itself. Like everything that she didn't know she was missing in herself suddenly became clear. Like she was whole now. When it all stopped she found herself lying face down at the falls. As she sat up and looked around she saw the two trees that had been closes to her where no longer there. Not destroyed not toppled but simply not there. The same could be said for the grass under and around her and everything else within a 20 foot radius of her.
She was shocked of course but she understood. Though she pretended so as to not draw attention to herself Elena was a very advanced preteen. She understood what her ability was and read up on how to use it. She researched and found mediation and different stems of her gift just in case. So while this new development was shocking she knew she had to move past that to learn to control it. To control her mutation. Telekinesis. Her power.
4 Years Later ( EPOV)
I didn't know what to say. What I was feeling could not be put into words. The shire magnitude of this decision weighed heavily on my heart. But the task had been given to me So I took it bravely and with a smile I proclaimed….
"The red one looks way better with your eyes" and as I saw the faint smile light up Bonnie's face I knew I had made the right choice. I was with Bon and Care shopping for a dress for Bonnie's big date tonight with her boyfriend of a year now Kol. They where so cute together and so in love that Bonnie decided that it was time to tell him her secret. I was really happy fir her and I just knew that Kol would take it well after all mutants where not exactly a secret anymore, and since her mutation like mine was mental and not physical I was confident that it would go great.
