Bulma thought her husband would be asleep by now; she'd spent ages in the shower and was certain she'd pass out as soon as she hit the bed, and she hadn't exerted herself half as much as Vegeta.

Goku made sure to highlight her husband's accomplishments in their battle against Black (or Zamasu, whoever they were), and Vegeta, of course, simply scoffed and grumbled some well-worn monologue about surpassing Kakarot one day as he went to clean himself off and greet present-day Trunks. Goku left shortly afterwards, and Bulma made sure Vegeta had plenty to eat before heading to the shower herself.

At any rate, he wasn't asleep. She couldn't see his eyes, which were open and staring at the ceiling, but his breathing hadn't become as deep and relaxed as it did when he was truly asleep. Her eyes were getting droopy and she had an idea of where this conversation would go, but oh, why not, so she asked:

"Vegeta? Are you okay?"

He grunted. "Nothing to worry about. You can rest easy."

"What about you, what's on your mind?" She said, struggling not to drift off.

There was, of course, the nagging thought of how Kakarot was still ahead of him, though getting to pummel at least one version of him had been quite enjoyable. There were also thoughts of Future Trunks and Future Bulma, if there wasn't more he could have done for them. But right now, the one thought that floated above the rest was:

"Has Kakarot never actually kissed his wife?"

She'd almost forgotten about Goku's comment. It seemed so silly at the time, classic Goku. But now it hit her just how bizarre it sounded, and the implications it carried. She frowned, unknowingly staring at the same spot in the ceiling as Vegeta.

"How is that even possible?" He continued. "It's not like it's just an Earth thing."

"I mean, I always just assumed it happened, and Chi-Chi never said anything to make me think anything was too weird, besides him always being off training for so long…"

"Even if it were, you'd think that someone raised on earth would have naturally…"

"How does she deal with it? Poor woman… I think. Maybe it doesn't bother her?"

"He has two children."

"Now I wanna ask her, but I don't wanna make it awkward…"

They sat in befuddled silence for a while, then Bulma yawned.

"Well, I guess it's just one more thing you're better than Goku at." She said, settling contentedly next to Vegeta.

"You don't have to pretend I'm stronger than Kakarot, honestly. It gives me the motivation I need to train."

She shrugged. "Just because he might be stronger doesn't mean he's better than you."

He scoffed.

"No, really." She insisted. "Has Goku ever had to fight years of being conditioned to think a certain way? Was he the prince of a whole planet with a massive reputation to live up to? Was he forced to serve the guy who destroyed his planet? Did he have to fight Babbidi's mind control? If you wanna keep getting better that's fine, but don't ever think of yourself as weak. You've fought a lot more battles than just physical, and you came out on top."

He didn't expect this, especially from someone so sleepy. He turned around to face her. "You really think so?"

"Of course. Why do you think I stayed with you?" She said. "You're the best husband I could ask for. And the best father our son could ask for."

There was a long pause where Bulma nearly dozed off again. Then she felt her husband turning, his hand locating her face in the dark. He cupped her chin in his hand, reached down, and kissed her. Passionate, yet gentle, a combination that surprised and delighted her. She returned it.

She giggled. "I can go on, if you want."

"So can I." He said, kissing her again.

"Please do." She said, suddenly not so sleepy.
