Dear Sirius,
I know you will never read this for I leave it in a house you swore you'd never return to. It makes it easier for me to write this, if only barely.
I made the wrong choices thinking they were right because they were the opposite of yours.
And they told me you were wrong.
I chose Slytherin over Gryffindor because I was afraid of our family's reaction. Also because you were in the latter.
And they told me you were wrong.
I chose Dark over Light because I wanted to make Mother proud. Also because you chose to side with Dumbledore.
And they told me you were wrong.
I chose not to follow you when you left because I thought they were right.
And they told me you were wrong.
I chose to join the Death Eaters because I thought the Dark Lord was right. Come think of it, so did Mother and Father.
And Bella.
And Cissa.
And Lucius.
And Rodolphus.
And Rabastan.
And they told me you were wrong.
I chose them over you because they're my family, and you already had another one with no place for me in it.
And I was wrong.
It is becauseI made the wrong choices all along that I write you this letter: it is time to face the past.
And change the future.
I now choose death over life because it is the right thing to do. Also because you were right.
And I was wrong.
Your brother,
Regulus Arcturus Black
