"Will!" I yelled, slamming my head on my desk. It was Thursday night and I still had to do my homework for the next day. I probably should have started earlier than 1 am, but I was busy. Well, not that busy, but that's not the point.
"Stop fucking singing!" I screamed, because my older brother, Will, had been singing karaoke Disney songs for the last 2 hours. We had the house to ourselves for a week because our parents were visiting family in Wales, so Will had been throwing parties every night. His parties really only had about 4 guests, but they seemed to have a good time. I was just about to get up, to properly yell at Will, when he appeared in my doorway. His hair was even more dishevelled than usual and he had large dark circles under his eyes. "That's not me. I've been trying to sleep for 2 hours! It's the fucking Lightwoods." The fucking Lightwoods. Of course. They were our next door neighbours and usually it was them complaining about us being too loud.
As far as Cecily knew only the three Lightwood children were home this week. Their parents were always on business trips.
I considered my options.
a) Tell Will to go over there and make them shut up.
b) Go over there myself.
c) Let them be and stay awake the whole night.
If I sent Will over there, he would have probably broken Gabriel Lightwood's arm, again…
If I let them be I would be tired tomorrow and break the arm of everyone who dared talk to me before I had my second coffee.
So I had to go over there myself and make sure they would shut up.
"I'm going over" I told Will, shrugging on a leather jacket.
"Fuck them up." He told me.
A minute later, I was standing on the Lightwood's doormat, ringing the doorbell. When no one answered my first ring, I pressed the button and kept pressing for ten seconds straight. Finally, the door swung open.
Gabriel Lightwood, the youngest of the Lightwoods opened the door. He was a good foot taller than me, his brown hair sticking up, messily. He was smiling, which caused his green eyes to crease up.
He said something, a cheerful smile on his face, but I couldn't hear him over the loud music.
"WHAT?" I screamed.
Gabriel leaned inside, shouted something and the music was turned down a bit.
"Sorry about that. What can I do for you?" He asked.
I crossed my arms.
"I wanted to ask you to please stop singing fucking Karaoke, it's 2 am!"
Gabriel frowned.
"Oh shit, is it?" he asked. I could see a bit of his house through the open door. On the sofa were Gabriel's siblings, Tatiana and Gideon, with his girlfriend, Sophie. There was another girl there that I didn't know.
"Well, yes, it is and it would be great if you could just, like, go to bed or something." I said, ready to turn around and go.
"Yeah, of course. So sorry! Is there anything I can do to make up for it?" Gabriel asked. I thought for a minute. There was nothing I really needed, but the offer was too good to just let it go.
"You can make me some breakfast tomorrow morning." I said. Food was always a good idea.
"It's a deal! Come over at 7." Gabriel said cheerfully.
I went back home and finished my homework in blissful silence. Then I went to bed, sleeping peacefully.
