"Are you afraid of the dark?"
Arthur blinked. Allowing the question to hang in midair before it began to register in his mind. In his youth, he had thrived in the darkness. When he grew older he learned to embrace the light and cast away his past in silent reprieve.
After all this time would he turn back and go into the dark? Would it greet him like an old friend or scorn him as he had done years ago?
"Come."
A hand reached out, drawing him out of his reverie, and Arthur took it, following it into a void. He paused when he felt the darkness pool around his lower half. It was.. odd. But he wasn't afraid. What he felt was far from it.
"Are you ready?"
Arthur nodded and the hand let go of his, leaving him to transcend into the dark on his own. He closed his eyes. When he opened them he was greeted by the color black. It spread out around him like a vast field, blending into the sky and the earth, making it impossible to tell one from the other.
"It's done."
