Alias: Marshall's Story
My name is Marshall Flinkman. When I was 25 years old and working on obtaining my degree from Cal Tech, I was approached by 3 men. They claimed they were from the CIA. I had no reason to doubt them, so when they offered me the opportunity to start a career in the agency, I happily accepted.
I was eventually assigned to work at SD6. An organization that I naively believed was a Black Ops section of the CIA. We all believed that we were working for the good guys. I was the Tech Guy, kind of like "Q" in James Bond you know when he'd have a sandwich that would be a flamethrower and he'd always tell James to stop touching things...yeah. So, my colleague Sydney Bristow was secretly working as a Double Agent for the real CIA. She took down SD6 and I was recruited by the actual CIA.
The work environment was eerily similar and I quickly adapted. That brings us up to date, and to the time when my world would be flipped upside down.
August 8th 0915 hours.
I slid my card into the security drive in the parking garage. I was late for the 2nd time in a week. Dixon wouldn't like this. As I slid into my chair in front of my computer I thought to myself, "Way to go Marshall! You're home free. Nobody saw you." As I booted up my computer, I leaned back in my chair and let out a breath of air.
"Marshall. What do you think you're doing?"
It was Dixon.
"Oh Geeze...I'm sorry sir, It was the baby, he kept on crying and, you know when they're wailing and won't stop no matter what you do and you just want to give them a pill that'll make them be quiet...Sorry sir it won't happen again"
Marcus looked me in the eyes and remained silent. After what seemed like an eternity he let out a laugh.
"I've been there my friend, Trust me, the sacrifices are well worth it"
"So what's up Chief? Need me to do anything? Glasses that project a map of the facility? A screwdriver that doubles as a magnifying glass? Same old, same old?" I said.
Dixon's face quickly changed to a look of utter seriousness. He leaned towards me and said," Sydney's missing Marshall. I can't find an agent to go find her for the life of me! They're all doing one thing or another. This is where you come in Marshall. I need you to go to Nicaragua where Sydney was last seen, find her and bring her back here."
"He must be joking", I thought to myself. "Are you kidding me sir?"
"This isn't a kidding matter; one of our top agents is missing. I need your help Marshall" said Dixon.
"Sir I haven't fired a weapon since basic training, I never took the Hand to Hand courses. I'm a techie sir, I Make love not war"
"Then you're in the wrong line of work", Dixon said as he reached into his pocket. "Here's your ticket to Esteli. I have a contact there, his name is Kyle Gauss. He might seem a little rough around the edges, but he's to be trusted. You leave tonight at 1900 hours. Good luck Marshall"
With that, I had officially entered the world of the common spy.
