Crash and Burn

Takeru

"Well, this is it!" Takeru smiled sadly. He climbed up onto the bridges side rail and sat down. Takeru stared again at the churning river water below.

Things hadn't been going very well lately. His father has had, now, two heart attacks. His mother was, strangely, dating again. And one of his best friends had deserted him. Now that school was no over, no fans came to see him. He was all alone.

No. I can't do this. This is stupid. There must be something worth waiting for. Takeru thought.

"No, Takeru! Stop! That's insane!" Hikari screamed. Startled by the sudden noise, Takeru slipped off of the bridge side rail. He screamed and he started to fall.

"Takeru! Hold on! I've got you!" Hikari had got there just in time. She held his hand tightly. She tried pulling him up but it was no use; he was too heavy. Slowly, Takeru's hand was slipping. She screamed for help.

As he was hanging there, between life and death, Takeru started thinking. There is something worth living for. I am. And my future... And Yamato would be devastated ... same with my Mom and dad. I cannot lose hope! I can't!

When you feel all alone
And the world has turned its back on you
Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart
I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you
It's hard to find relief and people can be so cold
When darkness is upon your door and you feel like
you can't take anymore...

"Oh my gosh! Hold on!" a runner said. He stopped to help Hikari. With his help, Hikari pulled Takeru back to safety.

"You kids okay?" the man asked. "Yeah...we're fine...thank you." Takeru said in between breaths. Hikari looked at the man and smiled weakly, "Yeah. Thank you!"

Takeru stood up and started walking away. "Hey! Wait, Takeru!" Hikari ran up to him.

"Hey. I shouldn't have deserted you like that."
"What's done is done..." Takeru shrugged.
"True ... but can't I make it up to you?" Hikari pleaded.
Takeru just sighed.
"Hey. Let's take a walk in the park."

The two walked through the park in silence. Takeru smiled sadly to himself as they came to that bench. the one they hadn't sat in for weeks. Hikari sat down and gestured Takeru to sit down beside her.

When you feel all alone
And a loyal friend is hard to find
You're caught in a one way street
With the monsters in your head
When hopes and dreams are far away and
You feel like you can't face the day

"I'm really sorry. I didn't know it would hurt you so much..." Hikari said.
"It wasn't just the breakup. It was that you just ignored me. After being friends for so long... You also didn't know what it was like to be me. I wanted to spend time with you- I really did! But everywhere I looked there was a fan. It drove me nuts!"
"It did?! Well...I...I didn't know! I'm so sorry! I guess I always thought you'd rather spend time with you fans...not me. I'm so sorry!"
"It's okay...you didn't know..."
"Listen Takeru. I'll always be here for you. No matter what collage you go to. No matter where life takes you. If you need someone to talk to, call me." Hikari smiled.
"Really?" Takeru looked her in the eyes.
"Yes," She kissed him on the cheek.

Because there has always been heartache and pain
and when it's over you'll breathe again
You'll breathe again

When you feel all alone
And the world has turned its back on you
Give me a moment please
To tame your wild wild heart

Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone
