The morning of May 3rd was quiet. Gryffindor Tower still stood, had made it through the battle unscathed. Sunlight poured into the window of the seventh year boys' dorm. For the first time in nearly a year, all five beds were occupied. No one was woken up by nightmares at 3 in the morning. Instead, they were all sleeping by the time Hermione and Parvati came to check on them at lunch time.
They had just visited the third member of their dorm, Lavender, in the hospital wing. Although her condition was serious, Madam Pomfrey had assured the two girls that their friend would survive, though she was being sent to St. Mungo's that afternoon. Relieved, they had headed back to Gryffindor Tower, ending up in the boy's dorm, where they now stood, discussing what their next move should be.
"I don't know Parvati, do you think it would be cruel to wake them up like that? We did just make it through a war."
"You're right Hermione. Plus I don't really fancy getting hexed by any of this lot." Parvati sighed, then turned to look at the other girl. "Vanishing their beds would have been fun though."
Hermione giggled. "They wouldn't be able to hex us, I've gotten pretty good at shield charms this year, and you aren't too bad at them yourself."
"Excellent point. In that case, I think they could all use a shower, don't you?" Parvati replied, raising her wand with a wicked grin.
"Couldn't agree more."
With that, Parvati brought her wand down, dousing each boy with a miniature waterfall, as Hermione cast a shield charm around the two of them. Within seconds, the room was filled with the sounds of five spluttering boys and the maniacal laughter of the two girls. Neville recovered first. Looking around the room at his dorm mates, all safe, all alive, all completely soaked, he too started to laugh. The other four boys soon joined in.
Hermione finally straightened up, nudged Parvati, and motioned out of the room. They left the room, heading downstairs to the common room. Once they left the stairs, Hermione turned around and captured Parvati in a bone-crushing hug.
"I know we haven't always been the best of friends," said the curly-haired girl, "but I want you to know how glad I am that you're all right."
"I'm glad you're okay too Hermione."
The two stayed like that for a little longer, holding back tears, before pulling back at the same moment.
"Right well I suppose the best way to make sure those idiots don't try to pull anything on us tomorrow is to bring them breakfast." Said Hermione.
"I think it's lunch time, but I suppose you're right."
"I always am."
Hermione, for lack of a better term, flounced away, Parvati shaking her head as she followed her, wondering not for the first time what exactly went on in the other girl's head.
